Favorite Arrows

I want to pick up my bow again, when I quit - ACC's were still a thing, albeit starting to pass. What's the latest go shaft these days? Looking for something in the 400 or 300 spine range BTW.

Easton Axis or FMJ’s are good choices. I actually shoot Axis with the Under Armour logo. They work very well for me. Good luck hunting.

Passthru 04-07-2022 12:02 AM

2nd those choices. I use Easton FMJ 5mm myself

Victory VAP's are a great arrow. A lot of the guys I shoot with use them.

I'm still using ACC. Cabelas had there stamp on them, not sure if they still sell them.

I got sick of paying $250 for a dozen arrows. Probably way more now. I switched to the Easton bloodline and they do just fine and I do practice out to 80yrds+.

Victory VAPs or Gold Tip Hunters

The only problem is they discontinued the Easton blood lines I heard or a least the 330 I think as I went to get more and they said sorry.Wish I could find some more though.

I’m a big fan of the Easton axis 5mm ( green writing). Pretty good quality for the price point and on occasion I have been able to scour and find them on sale in Canada

The Easton bloodlines are now the Easton Sonic. Very comparable

I'm a big fan of Gold Tip. Currently I'm shooting the Gold Tip FORCE arrows and I do love them but they are a higher end arrow.

From 2013 to 2020 I shot the Gold Tip Hunter XT. They are an incredibly good arrow and super tough. They are a 0.003 straightness arrow. If you take the time to spin the arrow and cut the either both ends or more off the wobbly ends, you can achieve 0.002 or 0.001 straightness about of a 0.003 arrow.

That’s good to hear! I shoot the gold tip hunter XT currently. Great arrow for hunting as well. Big fan of them.

Arrows

Always had good luck with victory arrows. Been using the VAPs for 3D archery and TAC. They have done awesome out to 120yrds.

Remps17 03-05-2023 10:57 AM

Victory RIP TKO’s with an Easton HIT insert for me. Big fan of .204 arrows and not a fan of micros. Bent to many outserts over the years.

But if you just picking up a bow again, hit the bargain bin and get some cheap arrows through your bow. Breaking and loosing $25-$35 arrows suck. Not that I would know….

Alberta Bigbore 03-05-2023 05:08 PM

Axis. Eastons bread and butter arrows.

robocop 03-05-2023 07:52 PM

Ill add another for consideration black eagle rampage pre fletched. They come with 52 grain inserts and I haven't had a problem with that setup yet. the money I saved over the axis arrows I purchased nocturnal nocks!!

I used to shoot carbon express only but have switched to victory in the last 3 years and have been happy.

Deer Crossing Archery

When our local pro-shop closed several years ago I started looking for alternatives to support my use for both hunting and target shooting. So I did a bit of online research and found the DCA website and decided to give them a try as they advertise a pre-cut ready to shoot product and it comes right to your door or post office and at a very reasonable cost.

Fast-forward to that fall hunting season, I shot three animals and had all but one as complete pass throughs and effective kills with only one broken arrow because I hit the offside shoulder and the muscles sheared the arrow internally causing even more internal lung damage and an extremely quick kill. I have had zero quality issues and the fact that I have to drive 2 or 3 hours and put a half to three quarters of a tank of fuel in my vehicle the exchange and postage basically comes out flush as if I was still shooting Gold Tip or Victory arrows.

Now I have three bows and each one is set up with a different arrow.

My 2018 Darton Tempest which I shoot DCA Target series 23's in 400 spine.

My 2018 Darton Spectra E which I shoot DCA Silencers a .166 in 300 spine.

My 2022 Darton Spectra E 32 which I shoot DCA Hunters in .245(std) in 300 spine.

Honest opinion guys these arrows are great quality for the dollar spent and customize to your liking. Check them out if you are a bow hunter living outside of a major town/city with limited access to supplies you won't be disappointed.

I've been shooting Carbon Express for many years and they were really good for me.
I had to buy another dozen for around $ 250 last month and they are Maxima Red as I am running out of my regular Maximas.

Kill’n Stix premium carbon arrows are a great product. I have had really good results with them on the target course and in the field. Locally owned company as well 👍.

TBark 04-23-2023 09:27 PM

The only ones I could find a year or so ago when stock was low were Carbon Express D-Stroyer 350’s.

But they appear to be shooting just fine.
