His book on Instinctive shooting was a great source of information and inspiration when I took up bow hunting .

Sad day
I owe so much of my appreciation for archery and hunting to Fred. Never met him but knew him through his writings. Agreed Cat: "time marches on".

Legend to Traditional archery. Thanks for posting this.

I was fortunate to have met Fred a couple of times. The man was a true gentleman and a great teacher

Fred Asbel
I knew Fred well from his Colorado days when he started Bighorn Bowhunting. He signed me up (sponsored me) for Pope and Young membership back in 1986. He was an excellent bowhunter, writer, speaker, teacher and most of all an excellent representative of bowhunting and good man. He will be missed!

I stretched out my colorado bighorn recurve this weekend in honor. I can’t say my shooting was all that good but it felt special to try at least.

I credit him with bringing Trad back from the abyss by himself back in the 80's. Met him a few times. He did a shooting seminar at the old Archery center in Calgary once. Also he was president of P&Y when they're Awards Banquet was in Edmonton.
