Grumpy Old unemployed Men

I was laid off December 21, first time in about 20 years. So I made a few things to occupy myself. Cabinet I made for my son and daughter in law to be, is made from crating that the glazing for the Aurora Greenhouse was shipped from Poland in. Built a live roll and winch bracket and braces for my headache rack. Should make loading a large critter a piece of cake. Boot rack and wine rack were made snd given as gifts, shotgun lamp I made for Catnthehat. He's got special plans for it. And I still made time to play on the D6 on the inlaws farm. Made some new lines and cleaned up some old ones. Even went shooting for a day. New gun is crazy accurate at .552". Next, 3.3 acres of yard work

Sorry to hear that you got laid off but happy for you to have found things to keep you busy. By the looks of it you could turn your talents into making a few bucks.

I’ve been planning on mounting a winch onto roll bars to recover road kills for bait and like what you did.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing... but it would have to be closer to Buck Lake. :-)

Nice job on the projects. I like the boot rack.

Looking good buddy!

leo 04-17-2019 07:35 AM

Thanks folks. Hopefully my employer will be calling shortly and re-hiring me to start a job. Meanwhile I'm gonna enjoy life and maybe do some spot n stalk bear hunting.

Kurt505 04-17-2019 07:59 AM

That crate wood sure looks good after you put a bit of work into it, great job Leo. After last nights election I think you best get that yard cleaned up quick because I think things will pick up again.

Good luck with the bears!

Beautiful work of art! I just love this cabinet! Looks amazing. You should start doing custom cabinets. And the bottle holder is very cool too.

Sorry to hear that

Hey nice work on the boot rack !

Now if only I knew how to weld. Wanna give me an 8 hour crash course so I can use my uncles welder at cabin ? Or how much for that boot rack hahaha , oh dang she gone

Cat will have to watch the great outdoors again

CMB70 04-17-2019 02:33 PM

Ya it sucks, after 23 years in the oil field I had to find a new career. Not fun working your way to the top then having to start all over again. I not the only one out there.

About 40 years ago I asked my uncle to teach me how to weld. He gave me 50lbs of rod and said go weld. I figured it mostly out after that. Lol. There's not much I can show you, I'm a farm welder, not a pro.

The reason you were laid off was because your creativity was wanting to come out. When you are done creating another job will appear. Enjoy. Nice projects so far.

270person 04-17-2019 05:56 PM

Nice work Leo. I saw that lamp in a slightly earlier state I think.

Remember......my offer for the house and property still stands. I may put a time limit on it tho. :)

Good men with talent aren't out of work for long. Just a chance for you to spread your wings and try new things. We never get too old to do that.

nimrod 04-18-2019 07:58 AM

I Need a boot rack. let me know if you could make another one, , possibly a double layer model, 4 or 5 boots wide, like your creativity making things.

Dang. Yeah that one. Has to be a lot of upkeep for an old guy. You really should consider passing it on to a much younger man. Ahemmm

In all seriousness Leo, short of being on a few sections of prime hunting land, and some berms a guy could park targets on and shoot at off his back porch, it's as good as it gets. I am seriously envious.

It's a pretty nice place. But, it just stuff. The girl in the second picture is what makes it a home.
