I remember looking around the lecture hall in university and seeing at least a couple of those open as students studied for duck banding job interviews with Canadian Wildlife Service.

Makes me wonder what happened to the ones I had. I got mine in 1977. D.H.

I have a bundle of them in one of my filing cabinets. It was definitely nice when hard copy info was available.

I also have printed copies from Canadian Wildlife Services Hinterland Who's Who for several different species. Now all they offer is video on their website. No printed pamphlets.

Man I remember those. I remember outdoor ed in junior high. We actually went to a camp and were trained with 20gauge shotguns and .22's.

I got to go to a competition with a few of my mates where we were timed building a fire, a lean-to, compass orienteering course, and of course marksmanship.

Some things actually were better back in the day.

I have a few others...migratory birds & upland as well I believe. Good times!

I had several of these. From animals, a few on different birds to trees to fish.

I used to have a set of 3 cartoon like posters of Alberta the gov't put out. They were big and full of color. One of the mountains wildlife, one of the parklands, and one of the prairies.

You might still be able to get some of these pamphlets at the environment gov't building around 108 st & 100 ave. The number two moose shot in Alberta is hanging in the entrance of the building. Big beast. Also, some fish and wildlife offices may have some of these publications.

How about the old licenses...Who kept theirs? Little booklets which required lick & stick stamps. I have all of mine since I started hunting. Seems like a life time ago :character0110:

I still have some of the metal tags somewhere... Although my old tag booklets are long gone.

Yes remember them,good times,took hunter training in highschool ,started big game and bird hunting and packing my own rifle in 77,had to be 14 when I first started hunting.Sure was a different time back then,always came accross a game warden when out,most of the time they were very friendly and willing to help out.Did alot of hunting out in the forestry,it always opened around the beginning of september for everything and not much for draws back then either.I peferred the metal tags to the paper one's,if they didn't get used I always saved them.

Stinky, back in the day when we had metal tags very seldom did we hang them on the Christmas tree. Lots of elk, moose and deer even many caribou, not many wolves or grizzly bears.

Camps Still Exist
 

There are still camps like this out there. AHEIA runs one such camp at Alford Lake that is operational year round for groups to book it and have these experiences. They get quite a few school groups as well as cadets, JFW, and other outdoors groups that go there.
