Northern Pike fishing.
Hello, I'm just really wondering if anyone has any great recommendations for fishing northern Pike from shore anywhere in Alberta. I know they're prevalent in most of Alberta. Just really wondering what the best Lake is to fish them from shore.
Thanks in advance!! |
Macgregor (mcgregor I don’t remember which spelling is correct)
Travers res Glenmore res Chestermere Dalemead PCR All decently fun I’ve always caught from shore at these places. Good luck! |
First time at Park Lake last week...................caught 4 jacks from shore in 45 minutes..............all under 63 cm

Pretty large province. It’ll help to narrow down where you’re planning on going.

Biggest trick is to get out early if you are fishing lakes, before the weed growth comes in too thick. After that rivers are a better bet.
I find that if you are fishing from shore its best not to get too fancy. Deadbait on the bottom or under a bobber can be left out where the fish are rather than spending half the time being retrieved through the shallows. If you want to chuck lures once in awhile, spoons cast like a bullet and can be fished at a wide range of depths and speeds. That's about all I bother with when pike fishing from shore. I live on Slave Lake, and IMO its one of the best areas for shore fishing in the province. Between the river and the lake there are plenty of locations to keep you catching fish all season long. |
