Six lakes area

Anybody fly fish from the Firebag river north and up to Richardson river? Looking at heading up to the backcountry area around six lakes this summer. :)

Info

Just wondering how the fishing was and if you tried fly fishing the firebag or Richardson river? And if you did fish the lakes which one is the best for fly fishing? Haven't been yet but looking forward to the clean water and some pike on the fly!

Sorry for the slight hijack, but does anyone know about the small lodge/outpost that operates up there? I met a guy in Bass Pro a couple years ago that had just taken over it if I recall correctly. He said it wasn't very publicized because they had enough business just through word of mouth. Anyone know about it?

Not sure

Pearson lake lodge is up there. the are south and west of the "six lakes" but all in the same relative area. Google them ...Fitzmaurice I believe was their last names. Great people to deal with. Had a trip booked but that was the year the big fire went through and closed the road. the lodge survived to my knowledge

I've only fished the six lakes itself.
The water is warm and amazingly clear!
I found the best fishing was in between the 2 main lakes in the creek.
Camp on the south shore or the north main lake.

I dint fish the firebag but I do remember when I threw a cig butt (I know...) in it a fish rose to it. I would assume a grayling. I would think it would be good fishing late in the year with low water for grayling.

Also there is a bay on the west side of the north lake with a ton of small jack. I don't think any of those were of legal size but it was amazing sight casting for them. I could see 100's of them. Only ever caught 1 walleye. I brought a small inflatable boat. I did see someone with a small alum and outboard.

Fly patterns

Thanks for the report. Good fishing right at the north lake is good news. I will take either my 12 footer or my canoe. Any suggestions on summer time flies for pike up there?

Fly rod

Also, I set up a big old 9 wt last year but only hooked into a couple 5-6 pounders. Would a 6 wt be enough. Most pike can be landed with it I'm sure. Any thoughts from pike fly fishermen and women out there?
