Hey Battery,

Drop me a line and I would be happy to share any info that you might need. Like things that I could have done better, like reduced weight. I went looking for the plans that I used, but the links are no longer available. Check www.iceshanty.com

or send me a PM!

I've got a super light tent trailer for sale that would make a great Ice Fishing shelter on wheels if anyone is interested!!!!!

Here's the one I built. Inspired by The Fisherman Guy.

I've slept three guys in it at once, and it's been great. Not very light though.

With my Big Buddy heater, I can sit in shirt sleeves in -20C weather. The wood stove is nicer in TheFishermanGuy's, but my heater works ok too.

Here's the thread outlining how I built it, with costs, all through the various stages.

ABD, you are too kind.

Battery, I would follow the lines that ABD followed. His cost analysis is terrific, and his size to weight ratio is unbeatable. If I were to do it all again, I would've made mine wider, and not as high.

Good luck, and don't forget to post pics of your progress and the finished product!

Albertadiver,
if i may ask how wide did you make it? it looks like you made it 6ish feet tall do you find that you could have made it shorter?
thanks

ps i just read the other link so never mind, thanks a lot looks great

Albertadiver 10-23-2009 10:07 PM

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I'll answer here because my thread is pretty long too.

I made it 4' wide by about 6'4 high roughly. It is nice to be able to stand up and stretch a bit inside. With the side canvas, I find the inside floor dimensions are more like 6' wide with a band of exposed ice/snow on either side of the plywood, so it's pretty roomy. (snow keeps the pop cold too)

I see the fishing hole has tarps and plans for sale. No pictures so I don't know if it is the style that you are looking for
