What’s a good left handed rifle for a beginner hunter, who is on a budget? Thanks for your replies.

Savage 11 with Accu Trigger.

Stay clear of the 20” bbl’d models.

Tikka makes lots of lefts in its T3x line.

I wouldn’t touch a savage with a 45’ pole. I’d look at Tikka, or a 700 SPS youth model.

I see some people have no concept of what "budget" means, go with Savage they have a few good budget rifles.

Some have vision of value. Savage offers nothing of value.

Want a quality left handed rifle, try Zastava if you like Mauser, regular bolt- Ruger, Browning bolt and lever (I personally don't like the 60 degree bolt lift on Browning but you can get used Brownings at really good prices), used Tikas and Sakos can often be found at really good prices, Savage in wood stocks or the upgraded synthetics but not the real cheap flimsy synthetics (not the axis version either), Remington 700 BDL/CDL ( the ones made ten years ago tend to have less issues than the new ones and I have never though the SPS were well finished or desirable), Savage 99 Lever, Winchester 88 and 1898 Lever and Weatherby used - last one I bought came with a 3x9 Leupold VX3, 100 brass, dies and 200 bullets for 1,100.

No, some people have experience with a bunch of different rifles.

Laughing, the ideal starter lefty would be a Model 20 NULA with two stocks. All youth rifles are way too heavy.

That would probably be about 80% of the guys who regularly comment on the hunting threads but many of them have an open mind.......and then there are a few who think their opinion is the only one.......tunnel vision.

You should try and just enjoy the shooting sports and the firearms you own instead of constantly trying to demean other shooters and their firearm choices.

Hell of idea. Wait though, if I had owned that as my first rifle I probably would have never bought anything else. They REALLY do spoil you for anything else made for a hunting rifle.

Come to think of it, I would be one of those one gun guys you hear so much about but I personally have never met. (Don't get me wrong, have met lots of guys who never owned more than one hunting rifle but never met the proverbial one that can shoot the eye out of a squirrel at 500 yards. All the one gunners I know shot 2 or 3 rounds a year for 50 years, which doesn't generally make a great shot).

You are assuming those that own Savage do not own some other "high end" guns.
I keep a model 10 because of the groups it produces and it's reliability.
I may upgrade sometime to something prettier but not until I verify that it can equal the accuracy.

As a late friend of mine used to say, accurate junk is just accurate junk.

I would go this route long before going Savage.

I've sold guns with beautiful wood, custom stock, that just felt like it was aiming itself but couldn't shoot MOA.
A pleasure to look at but that's about it for its usefulness.

I don’t hunt with wood stocked rifles either.

Savage is cheaper than both and just as good

Rocky Canadian Tire has all their Tikka T3 at 10% off. Several lefties available.

I bought a Ruger American .270 LH.
Haven't shot it yet but it looks just as good as anything else in the safe.

The OP asks for suggestions on a budget rifle and you suggest a rifle that will be close to $5000 once landed in Canada. :snapoutofit:
