very nice fish. what was the length?

Nice pike. If you don't mind me asking, what did you catch it on? How deep were you fishing? I've been to Wab a few times in the last couple of weeks and all i've managed to catch are hammer handles. I usually catch nice pike out of there, but in the last 15hrs of fishing there i've only managed to land 25 small ones.

If you want to catch big fish use big lures or big bait. You catch them the same depth as the small ones(10-15 feet near weeds/drop offs etc).

I mainly catch 21-26 inchers out there(even with larger rapalas) but roughly every other trip I find one 36-39 inch. For some reason I don't catch many in between those sizes though(about as many as I do the larger ones).

X2 on the big bait. I've caught big pike (10+lbs) in lakes where the average size is 1-1/2lbs by using a 12" smelt and trolling about 6mph. Wanna rush, try hooking up while speed trolling. When they hit at a high speed it's like fishing for barracuda.

Awesome pike btw!

Whenever I go out to wab I catch a bunch of big guys , I find that like other people said big baits and drop offs by weed lines work best for me

I was just looking on the fish stocking and Wab was stocked with 5 million walleye fry in June. WOW ! Hopefully the pike don't eat them all. Thats going to be one of the best lakes in Alberta in 10 years time if they keep doing that. Need to stock perch and whites in there now, just to feed the pike and walleye.

Was the only lake and other species of fish stocked that was not a trout. That disturbs me as there are a lot of fish declines in a lot of lakes in Alberta. Not just trout.

No need to stock whites it's full of them. .. big ones too.
