How do they stand up to windy conditions? It looks like you can pile snow(if there is any) along the bottom edges to weigh them down..but what if there is limited snow cover?

Jigger 12-02-2007 06:12 PM

it says there are anchor you drill into the ice for heavy wind conditions. But the thing is how reliable it is to get shipped to Canada from the US.?

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 07:22 PM

Jigger this is the one you should get!!!

Jigger 12-02-2007 07:24 PM

What do you mean Tundra?

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 07:25 PM

That 6 man quickfish you wanted one for 5+ people, I use an Eskimo VERY IMPRESSED.

Jigger 12-02-2007 07:26 PM

Never mind now that i see your post on the other thread, have u had any experience with eskimo? and is this website reliable or wheres a good place to buy them from?

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 07:27 PM

I think we bought ours from Cabela's, they are very reliable, honestly though if I was you I'd buy one that folds into a sled they are awesome throw all your crap on it and head out to your spot.

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 07:28 PM

I think ours is called a quickflip or something plenty of room for me and the boy.

Jigger 12-02-2007 07:29 PM

Ya know doubt makes it very easy and warm exspecially when there easy to work with, the one from cabelas you had to order over the internet? how was that how long did it take? Shipping?

Thanks

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 07:45 PM

Cabela's shipping is always very cheap! It took about a week, and Yes I ordered on the internet, but I think you can call them if you prefer you can find the item # online and then tell them it on the phone.

Jigger 12-02-2007 07:48 PM

I was just on the website but couldnt find the 6 person one, check out this one on this website!

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 07:51 PM

I'd say get this:

http://www.altapower.com/product_p/69045.htm

You don't want 6 guys in one shack, too much noise and shuffing around and you're bound to get lines tangled!!

Jigger 12-02-2007 08:00 PM

Its not that ill have 6 guys in it its just nicer and more comfortable with all that extra room!!!!holy @^*& why are the quick flips so much more expensive than the hubstyle!?

TundraBuck 12-02-2007 08:02 PM

Probably because of the sled and its so quick to set up and take down, and that bench seat in them is so comfy!!!

Jigger 12-02-2007 08:06 PM

It comes with the sled and bench seat? thats cool, is the hub style relitivley easy to set uo and down?

Jigger 12-02-2007 08:11 PM

Never used any sub zero gear myself, the neighbor here in Rocky that's all he uses and he likes it.

No worries!

Jigger 12-04-2007 07:58 AM

Do those Hub style tents even the big one, do they have floors, if so is it good or bad??

TundraBuck 12-04-2007 07:34 PM

I'm not sure but you most definitely do want a hard bottom.

ice tent info

After reading all the posts on fishing shelters I still am very confused. As everyone has there own and there own preferences I need one that one man can put up easily,is dark.large enough to hold 3 men and some equipment ,benches would be nice, has anchors as it is windy here. Also just curious if ice-cubes are for sale in Alta./ thks

Ace 12-13-2007 08:04 AM

You can buy ice cubes from the Fishin' Hole or Wholesale Sports. Both have information on-line about their ice fishing gear.

What if your looking for something with a bit more room, i cant find anything from Canada.....and i dont trust ordering from the us,(what if something goes wrong)any suggestions?

jrs 12-13-2007 06:24 PM

I am strongly thinking of buying an ice cube if i can't get my shack fixed, 4 man is $290 i believe, two man $240 here in Red Deer. Issue is it would be kind of sketchy in southern Alberta where i do lots of ice fishing, pretty light and lots of surface area. I am building a wind proof one this weekend potentially, if i don't make it south to fix my other homemade on that is, which got damaged in a sudden windstorm last winter by Pincher Creek. I'd say its not a great looking unit for windy areas (i'll icefish days with 90km/hr winds by trying to find sheltered areas, that ice shack would outrun me for sure even behind the best windbreak).
