Meh.

Who cares.

They should put their energy towards something that benefits mankind.

I’m watching ... supporting and celebrating achievement. Learning all about scoring in case I am ever asked to judge any popular AO Forum Events like “Stirring the Pot”, “Castle Doctrine”, “Conspiracy Theory” ..... Pretty sure we’ve got medal contenders right here in our midst but first they have to pass the dope testing. So far, they have proven their nimbleness and avoided any bans. (Got to admit I do suspect a few that were previously banned are back under a new flag.)

I like to watch but generally think the olympics no longer represents the spirit in which they were established. With countties dumping hundreds of millions to billions of $$ on venues that will get very little use after the games while their citizens live destitute. Can’t in good conscious be proud of that.

This is an achievement, no doubt.

Risky, but rewarding.

Nope. It's like a "Joe-Who"?

reddeerguy2015 02-12-2018 06:34 PM

Bunch of Scrooge's on here.

Our household has been watching. Really the first time the kids are old enough to understand what's going on and appreciate what kind of work our athlete's have put in to get on the world stage.

The Olympics brings the world stage together, if not for a short time. Enjoy it people.

Dweb 02-12-2018 07:03 PM

Our house enjoys it !

Prairiekid 02-12-2018 08:16 PM

I care. The olympics is the perfect venue for countries to put aside their differences and compete.

Unregistered user 02-12-2018 09:16 PM

Tell that to the Russians.

Its great to see the positive ideas in here. What did yoi jave in mind?

HunterDave 02-13-2018 04:37 AM

We've been watching it. Regardless of the sport I find it exciting when there's a medal on the line and Canada has a chance to win one. Without the NHL players in men's hockey it doesn't have me pumped about hockey like I usually would be though. I guess that everyone's in the same boat, but still. Back to the 60's when the Red Army won all of the time I guess.

crownb 02-13-2018 05:24 AM

Yeowww!! Mixed doubles curling gold!!!!

Would be more interesting to watch if Russians just hacked the investigating lab and it's computers...
Too sad that all the "news" about "Russian hackers" I've seen for almost a year turned out to be a hoax paid by Clintons.
It's a very rare moment when I wish that propaganda was true :(.

PS. I mean propaganda part about hackers, not athlets

Unregistered user 02-13-2018 03:58 PM

Wow, you want to believe the big lie?

How true. Billions of dollars spent for photo ops, while mortgaging future peoplekind for venues left deteriorating. Someone makes money off this but not us. Look at Calgary Olympic Park, Look at Sochi Site. Pretty expensive spending for a few athletes.

Whats wrong with COP? Is the bobsleigh track not still in use? The Calgary games left a huge legacy with the bobsleigh track, oval, Saddledome, and Nordic centre. Those facilities are over 30 years old now and have been used by tens of thousands of beginner to elite level athletes over the years. The Oval and Nordic centre are literally used daily. The increase in athletic opportunities as well as quality of life for Calgarians and Albertans alone has been worth the cost not to mention that Calgary and Canmore have become the primary training hub to many Canadian winter sport teams and athletes (Canadian National hockey, World Juniors many years, National Womens Hockey, sliders, speedskating obviously to name a few). Numerous world cup events as well as international athletes training in the province and young athletes from throughout western Canada coming into the city to use the facilities/coaching has undoubtedly had a huge positive economic impact on the region.

Sorry but saying that Calgary's Olympic venues have not been a huge benefit for the city, Province and even country is just not accurate.

Unregistered user 02-14-2018 05:32 AM

The Olympic oval is rated the fastest ice in the world for speed skating.

Bub 02-14-2018 10:14 AM

So Russia lost to Slovakia 2:3 in men's hockey. Meh, reasonable. The US went down to Slovenia 2:3, lol. Slovenia plays hockey?
