Sako Optilock Ring Screw Needed
 

I had this posted as a WTB in the optics section, but no bites.

I messed up and tried an imperial hex key on my Optilock rings screws before realizing the screws are metric.

The result is a stripped screw that I cannot torque to 15ft/lbs. I changed out the hex key to a metric before doing damage to the other 7 screws.

Does anybody have an Optilock ring screw that I could buy, or know where I could locate one? Thx.

If your local gunsmith or Western Gun Parts don't have one then I would try calling the distributor, they usually have parts.

Brownelle's carries spare part kits but they aren't cheap. Probably could buy a spare set of rings.

They switched to torx a few years back, hopefully stoeger still has some of the hex drive version left. They want something like $3/screw...

I would also talk to them about shipping them in an envelope - I needed two action screws and they came in a cardboard box.


Stainless or blued? I may have a left over in my junk drawer

I have stainless ones for sure. Not sure about blued but I'll look.

Go to your local hobby shop and buy the appropriate socket head screw. Can't recall if it is 3.5 or 4? The screws they sell, I think may be for model trains. They are steel and very hard. The socket head will probably be too large diameter, but you can tape the threads...chuck it in your drill or dremel .. and spin it against a file. Will also need to cut to length. I've done it several times. For a couple of dollars, you have lots extras.

Mine are blued, but do not really care if I swap one out for stainless. Just want to make sure the scope does not budge under recoil.

Tale a sample to Fastenal. I bought a used Blaser F-3 shotgun, and some screws were missing for the balance weights. Fastenal had them in a few days, and the cost was only a few dollars for eight screws.
