What would be a new all around fun gun

So I'm wondering what a guy could get for a fun new gun I have. 303/308/3006/270wsm/7mm08/300wm/338wm/223/and the typical 22s and shot guns what could be a new fun toy or build to start .

Mateo 03-03-2014 08:50 PM

Give all your guns away (to me) :thinking-006: and anything you do will be fun and new! :sHa_shakeshout:

I would add 6BR and 30BR if you are looking for light recoil, accuracy type fun. The 30 BR also doubles as a capable deer caliber to moderate ranges.

A semi-auto before they become prohibited. Try a 7.62x39 sks or ruger 10/22 or sr-22 these are fun rifles

i was considering the same thing until i went to the provost gun show and held one this weekend. the bolt is nowhere near smooth but that might get better after use. the main thing is the stock is terrible and it appeared that it didnt fit very well. if i do ever buy one i am buying a boyds stock the same day for sure.

what about a military rifle?
maybe a springfield? or even a mini 14 target? not to mention as of sunday prophet river firearms had both of those firearms.

Smokinyotes 03-03-2014 09:48 PM

Semi auto non restricted black gun in a 223.

honda610 03-03-2014 09:55 PM

Have you thought about a traditional percussion or flintlock rifle, nothing says old school like a Hawken .50 cal or larger. :character0110:

catnthehat 03-03-2014 09:57 PM

For me I'd be looking at a hyphen gun in either 38/56,40/65, or 45/70:)

Do you know what kind of mini-14's prophet has? thanks

Bergerboy 03-03-2014 10:33 PM

.223 for a fun gun. Flat shooting, no recoil, low report, availability of cheap ammo.

That would be a great choice for the all out fun gun.

SKSniper 03-04-2014 06:09 AM

Some might laugh at this one, but the Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54r. Very fun to plink with and practice up on your iron sight skills. Nice hard hitting .30 cal that only costs 30 cents a shot (surplus fmj). The gun is going to run you a whopping $190 however :sHa_sarcasticlol: . I can hammer my mosin all afternoon an it only ends up costing me $20-$30 per outing.

bat119 03-04-2014 06:33 AM

45-70 trapdoor loaded with black powder my fun gun I can hit the gong at 300 yards but it takes a few seconds to get there LOL

ACKLEY ABE 03-04-2014 06:42 AM

Yup... I went on a 45-70 run...three of them now and all great fun..two levers and 1 bolt gun.

Next fun gun...hmm 38-55 in something cool...lever..or falling/rolling block maybe.

krthegunslinger 03-04-2014 07:47 AM

Fun gun

Looks like you have some good shooters so pick up an SKS and a crate or two of ammo. They are fun shooting rifles. Had to buy another after selling my first as I missed shooting it. Fun fun fun!!!!!

Icatchfish 03-04-2014 08:23 AM

Get an AR. Or a Tavor

Smokinyotes 03-04-2014 09:34 AM

Just about everything from a 17 hmr to a 458 wm have been mentioned. First of all we need to know what the op's idea of fun is and what the intended use is.

Wiz 03-04-2014 11:41 AM

Pick up a cheap Norinco M14 and have at er.... lots of fun things to upgrade and a hell of a lot of fun to shoot

j-ROC2 03-04-2014 12:51 PM

Thanks for all the ideas I don't have a restricted fire arms course and don't feel the need to get one a sks may be a fun toy I was looking online and you can make them look some sweet the 45-70 sounds good to hummm so many options
