Hey guys just wanted to post a pic of this trout i caught last year to see if anyone has seen anything like this before..

He put up a hell of a fight too believe it or not and even jumped 3 feet out the water when he took my hook.

A neighbour caught an Old Cutty like that on the Ram ... probably injured as a juvenile by a poor release ( by the angler or the fish) off a barbed hook ... go barbless - just say'n - that is stay'n power for that fish to continue life's journey

You think a barbed hook ripped half its head off? lol...:sHa_sarcasticlol:

Awwwww.......the face only a mother trout could love! That's one ugly little sucker!....err....trout I mean. Shows how resilient fish can be I guess to mortality at a young age even after a significant injury. Probably caused by a hook and very poor handling and release techniques I think.

Found this guy on Instagram a while back! Looks more like a birth defect to me

Awesome! Derp is right

Never seen any fish deformed like that, how the heck do they even eat enough to get that big. Make a unique mount.

There is a river in PEI i fish for tidal Bows in that has a old dam, with a few side channels, that dead end into a concrete wall 20ft tall, fisheries has tried to isolate it with decent success, and it is to costly to repair correctly... But i have caught a few bows with flattened/healed noses in the area. It makes you feel a little better about keeping them when you fish the hole below..

I agree.. these are the weirdest trout I've ever seen. Did you maybe notice if there were any one winged ducks flying around in the area too?

Looks like a stocked fish to me. Was it from a water body that had been stocked?

WayneChristie 09-21-2016 10:07 AM

caught a small sturgeon that was missing part of its nose. bio said it was probably bitten by a walleye or pike when it was small

WhitefishLady 09-23-2016 06:40 PM

Strange looking trout! I highly doubt thats a hooking injury. Must be some hook then! Maybe a birth defect or injury from another fish or bird of prey?
