Long overdue
Finally a good move from DFO.
Sure those farm put food on our table, but in the long run an environmental disaster. Unfortunately, the damage done to wild salmon will stay. https://i.imgur.com/j4eYHqO.jpg Fisheries Department says it will shut 15 salmon farms off B.C.'s coast to protect wild fish https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...ewed-1.6752997 |
Old News.
In 2012 DFO Scientists identified a Virus that the Atlantic Salmon were immune to that was deadly to chinook, coho and sockeye salmon. Report was buried under Harper and then again under Trudeau until last summer when the authors retired and somehow the 2012 Report was leaked. The virus has not gone away, and the Atlantic Salmon keep re infecting the wild salmon, causing the internal organs to go to jelly killing the wild salmon. But it is nice to see some migration coridors being protected for a change. Drewski |
