can someone talk me outta this crazy idea??
Can someone please talk me outta this crazy idea of going to Chilliwack to fish salmon and sturgeon and not going to Terrace to fish steelhead and coho this year!? I own a jet boat and thinking of not taking it on my annual trip....

I'll drive the jet boat for ya. |
Haha... nice but not very convincing
Doesn't sound like a crazy idea to me, sounds fantastic! The Fraser is a world class fishery and those sturgeon grow to enormous sizes... make steel-head look like feeble fish. Come to Chilliwack.
Well its a good backup plan, but certainly seems insane to any steelhead fisherman.
Why not do both ? Take a extra week off. You worked very hard and I'm only gonna say this once, You deserve it !:happy0180:

We were fishing Chilliwack 2 weeks ago in my boat, a little busy at the mouth of the Fraser, but worth it. Between the 3 of us we had close to 100 pinks to the boat in a 10hr day.
For my first time fishing BC in my boat, I was quite happy. JH |
Not crazy bud I would pick the sturgeon fishing hands down. Either will be awesome, like Kim said do them both!?
Sturgeon all the way!
Ya the plan is to do a couple days for sturgeon on the way to Chilliwack then a week and a half on the vedder for chinook/coho and chum. Then hit a couple days for sturgeon on the way back too. Bonus is theres a couple salmon derbys goin on while im there that I have actually won before. Still nothing like a good steelhead trip but making a solo trip I think it makes more sense to head south this year.
just got back from Chilliwack the pinks were in thick and the big sturgeon were biting . biggest 9 feet.
Awesome! Im getting pretty excited to get this trip on the way. Most of the pinks still fresh? Im hoping there done by the time I get there.
i just got home from lund . salmon must be in the frazer right now cause there were lots of people fishing all around Chilliwack . go !!!
My boat needs to see the BC coast next year now because of this...and the incredible fishing
Screw chiliwack. Let's head to the skeena and bulk,ey.
^^^ this guy knows what Im talkin about. Im planning Chilliwack but if the weather works out Im gonna have to hit Terrace
Spent a couple days sockeye and steelhead fishing on the Skeena a couple weeks ago. Wanting to get back out to that country soon for steelhead.
Its good to change it up one in a while and try something new.

Do it! I was there with james henry a couple weeks ago. Launch on the sumas canal and fish the vedder at the mouth of the fraser, when you get your limit head out into the fraser and use fresh roe bags and salmon heads for sturgeon. You can do it all everyday from the same boat launch.
The best part of the Skeena is the season closes Dec. 31 and some of my best days on the Morice for steelhead have been in November.
do both ;) |

steelhead and coho are the bait on the Fraser - all kidding aside go sturgeon at least this 1x
you ever try the Harrison? or anyone else ever try the Harrison from AO?
Steelhead guys get it... if I can I'm going to Terrace (weather permitting ) although sturgeon would be a nice change, nothing is better then the allure of the steelhead.

Lots of guys run Jets on the Morice and Bulkley, it's relatively tame and not bad for depth, plus its wide. No fishing from boats that time of year, bring chest waders. edit: not sure about the upper Morice, but there's a lot more guys drifting then running jets during steelhead season on the middle and lower sections. |

Next year Im hoping to do a fish/camp trip down the Babine river, a few world class lodges on there and theres very limited access. Hence why I want to run it with a jet and make camp in the bush at night for a few days.
