Anyone read Japanese?

Thought maybe someone on the forums reads japanese. The picture is of a very old sword maker's signature. Wonder if anyone can interpret this name?

Just as a shot in the dark, my phone says it has a translation feature, maybe yours does too.

I'm old school. No cell phone here. I know google has an app for cellphones called " Google goggles" where you can upload a picture and someone will identify what is in the picture.

Interesting and helpful. Making me think maybe the signature isn't in Japanese.

The first character looks korean, and the second character means something like head, chief, or something along those lines.

Perhaps a picture of the entire blade would zero it in by a collector as far as Country/Timeline.
