Floating Stone Fishing Reports

My parents have a cabin at Floating Stone lake by Ashmont. I go up there every weekend (almost) in the summer and do alot of fishing and such. A friend and i went out there for the 5th time this year on the June 19,20,21 weekend and ended up catching 78 fish in total....an all time record for me in 15 years at that lake. 73 Pike and 5 Walleye. We were trolling and casting the south end of the lake infront of my parents cabin. I caught most of my fish on a Rattling Rapala...yellow and green (even the walleye)...and he caught most of his on a lucky 5 'o' diamonds.

I would appreciate it if people would respond to this with other fishing reports.. including location, lures used, area fished and how many fish...

Good job. Sounds like you had a great time. Most of the lakes around Ashmont are taking a beating from the low water levels. Very few fish!

Long lake by Boyle is still producing some Walleye with jigs and leeches.:)

hey Antelopeous,
my family usually spend july and some of august at floating stone the last couple years. What did the water level do, drop again? Was the lake busy with the Walleye tags they passed out.

Well, i was up at the lake again this weekend and i am sad to say that i didn't even boat a Wally...:mad3:

Spent about 10 hours on the lake between sat and sun. Caught about 20-25 Jack though so it was still fun...nothing like the 78 i caught the last time out.

On a good note though, i did catch the biggest Jack of all time for me on this lake. 36 inches, just under 6 pounds:)

Well another weekend out at the lake but this time it was a good one, ended up using one of my Class A walleye tags on a 5.5 lb 61cm walleye...will post pics when i get them off my buddies camera. Caught out by the island straight north of the public beach.

Floating Stone

I have a lot at Amisk Lake which is just East of Boyle and we used to have great perch fishing until the walleye ban was put into effect. Now the perch are gone and I can very easily catch 30 walleye in an hour right off my dock. Lots of wardens on the lake this year and none of them have any idea when walleye will be open again either by a slot size or a draw. A plain hook with a leech or minnow does the trick. Same situation in Skeleton Lake where fishing friends are experiencing the same problem..

Hope you enjoy these. Not very good quality, they were taken with a cell phone.
