NSR on Saturday

Headed down to the river for a few hours this afternoon and despite the swarms of helicopter-sized mosquitos and the pouring down rain it was quite a good day. Managed about 30 fish in 3 hours, slow-dragging a 1/16 oz jig and leech along the bottom. Caught 1 sauger, 2 goldeye, 1 pike (6 break-offs), and lots of walleye but nothing real big.

What do you mean drag? Do you cast upstream and just let it roll downstream while keeping some tension on the line? Those are nice fish im going to have to try that mehtod next time im down at the river.

Excellent report. Beauty looking Goldeye. i see the river is still high and muddy:rolleyes: , which i like as most people think the fish of the NSR cant be caught in those conditions.

RyanGSP- Where I was fishing there was no current, I would cast across the pool I was fishing, then very, very slowly reel the jig back. I believe it's one of Sheephunters favorite techniques.

NDN- I hear you about the high and muddy river.... there wasn't any sign of anyone else being there in quite sometime.
