Crawling valley burbot

Anyone caught any burbs out at crawling yet this year. Was thinking about heading out tomorrow and poking around a little. I was there couple weeks ago and only got pike and walleye, saw more perch than i could shake a stick at but they wouldn’t bite.

Burbot are getting smaller there, lots of pressure on them.

It's quite a shame, I fishing cvr tons and have noticed the numbers and size of burbot go down over time. They are still around though but won't be keeping any of them this year.

seem to be the same in the other southern lakes too. Limits need an adjustment.

Limits…certainly. But chance of that happening with AEP is doubtful.

Moreso, guys need to realize the situation with the populations and self regulate. Do you need 10, probably not, we can all do our part without being told to do so by the government.

No kidding hey. Good call out.

And, I hope one day there is actual management of other species than pike and walleye which I actually am least interested in hearing about. With burbot today in the mid-late season it is either 0 or 10...

Walleye also eat huge numbers of small Burbot along with any other small fish available. This includes,Pike,Perch and Whitefish.

It seems when Walleye get established they soon become the main predator and most abundant species of fish, in many but not all lakes and reservoirs.
