Anyone making heavy grain 25cal bullets
 

So I have to rebarrel my 25-06. And with all the hype and logic and success with the 6.5Creedmore, well, .257 is .007” less than .264 Does someone make heavy grain .257 Bullets, maybe 140 or 150 grain? If so, I would rebarrel my 25-06 with a 7 or 8 twist and give those Creeds a run for their money. Maybe even go with an Ackley Imp chambering

2nd question: has anyone had success with the 25-06AI? What was the good and the bad of this chambering?

If you are rebarreling you could go 25 Gibbs if you don’t mind fire forming brass. I think Matrix might be making a 25 cal 130 gr. 25 Gibbs is pretty close to a 257 wby.

If you are re-barreling, why not just go with a 280ai and you will have a gun that you don't have to convince yourself is powerful enough for all hunting shots Alberta has to offer. 6.5-284 would also scratch the itch too. Just a suggestion.

Chinchaga might make some i remember him talking about it at one point i think

Blackjack 131 grain, in the states though

The 25-06 already does give the 6.5 creed a pretty good run, and i think Ron Spomer does a good article on it.

Blackjack was mentioned above, the Berger 115gr VLD is a good option as well.

I've just loaded some 110 ELDX in .257 WBY that I'm interested to get numbers on. BC is not as good as the berger though.

dale at chinchaga makes 140's. shoot them in my f=gun with great results. he's in ponoka.

Yes it sure does. Windage is about the only area where the CM outperforms it on the range. Wider range of bullets for hunting with the CM, cheaper to reload, and it's a heck of a lot easier on barrels.

Love the 06 despite any shortcomings it may have.
