Steady Tripod shooting.

What am I looking at?

looks like a hook, to keep tension on something to steady shot on a tripod / sticks, I have no idea either!

Sorry guys. I had the pics posted but they disappeared. I'll find another host sight and figure out how to post pics. With photo bucket not working in at a loss! Haha.

A buddy of mine, who was a military sniper, showed me this trick. The tension of the paracord pulls the front and the back down simultaneously. He originally used a couple boots laces while he was in the mountains over seas. He would run the lace under his boot so he could lift his foot to pan then step down hard on the lace to create tension to shoot. I'm not shooting at targets that shoot back, so my way is a little slower but I find it more steady in the long run. Last year I shot a whitetail just shy of 500 yards with this setup. I only had a standing shot and it made it all happen. I can even apply pressure with my cheek on the stock to get a good weld and there is virtually zero movement. If you're quick with knots you won't need the attachment I have on my stock. All you need is about 4' of parocord in the hunting pack.

I have experimented with this type of thing as well. Also using a heavy bungee cord with the front hook straightened a bit ( to slip through the swivel stud) then to a carabiner on my belt. Pivoting you hips back a bit puts tension. By far though my most steady standing shooting system is my home made quad pod with extra support leg. Easily made a 550yd one shot kill on a coyote off this rig.
