Hey everyone I am looking at purchasing some of these and would like your insight if they are a good arrow for a beginner. Also what type of nocks and vanes your recommend.

I have shot these for the past couple of seasons. I just shoot the standard nocks that come with them and wrap and fletch mine with blazer vanes. I have killed elk,moose,bears,and deer with them. I like them alot and they aren't $160+ a dozen like easton or carbon express.

X2 you can also get pin nocks for them.

I picked up a dozen of the Goldtip Pro hunters. Really nice arrows! Very straight, very tough. Haven't had a chance to see its performance on penetrating an animal, but I'm very happy so far with their accuracy.

Do you shoot the pin nocks lefty?

I did when I used those arrows for outdoor 3d. I use nocktournals for hunting. If you use pin nocks use the plastic bag trick and don't glue them.

I just started shooting them and I am impressed so far

Decent shafts and pretty good price. With blazer vanes you won't be disappointed.

What diameter do you guys recommend for hunting arrows?

Also is their much of a doffer encephalitis between these and the pro hunters.

Not enough to justify the increase in price IMHO, for hunting you won't notice a difference at all.

Pros have a tighter tolerance. I wish I could shoot good enough to know the difference between the two.

I think i heard they were a bit tougher? Not sure though.

Perhaps you might consider getting lighted nocks for those arrows? If so, I've got some for sale. Look them up if you don't know what they are. They are not necessary, but do look pretty cool in flight and you can find your arrow easier.

They are exactly the same shafts...gpi and toughness, diameter, etc. it's just certain ones fall out of the tolerance window set for the Pros when they are in final testing.....those ones become the Hunter XT.

Gold Tip Hunter XT is all I ever use for hunting. Killed 3 good bucks with them in the last 4 years. Usually buy mine at basspro.

I got the pros just cause they were on sale. Lol. A dozen for $100. Not bad. Otherwise ida got the XT probably.

I've been shooting them for over a year now and have no complaints. When I first started I used cheap Beamans or Easton Powerflights, which were good to me and I didnt worry about breaking them at 3D or losing them in the gopher patch. Tried a couple of Carbon Express arrows (Mutiny and Mayhems - I think) both were fine. The Gold Tips are great for me not too spendy, because I still miss the odd shot at 3D, and still lose arrows in the gopher patch. They are tough and plenty accurate for me, got my first robin hood at 30 yards last week with them! :sHa_shakeshout:

As far as nocks, I just use the ones that come with the arrrows, unless i am using my Nockturnal lighted nocks, which I really like.

I've never had an issue with them. Some of them even went trough my target into this building with the walls made out of rail road ties. Had to chisel them out with a hammer. They weren't cracked split, I was quite impressed how well they stayed together.

The Pro, XT, and Expedtion Hunters, are the same arrow. The only difference is the straightness tolerances, which affects the price as well. As the straightness tolerances are .001, .003, and .006", I choose the Expedition Hunters, as I cut the arrows down to 27", which strengthens the spine, as well as the straightness, and I save money!

I use the GT pin nocks, and blazer vanes.

These are what I use with the standard nock and vanes jim bow set up for me. They fly straight and are tough, I have missed my target and stuck broadheads into trees with no damage to the shaft.

Better do a bend test, unless tree was 120 yds away. Or it was a very SOFTwood tree. Cheers.
