Why the NDP will win.

10+ hour wait time at the children’s hospital in Calgary right now.

Waiting room is full with an extra 20-30 kids lying on the hallway floors.

1.5 hours just to get admitted.

Good job driving our doctors and nurses into the ground and to different provinces Kenny. Good luck with more of your out of touch rhetoric and priorities Danielle.

Will try taking our son again tomorrow in the morning.

I get your frustration with the system. Very sorry your son is sick.

Right now kids are being hit hard from respatory problems. My 10 year old spent 5 days in stollery end of September. They were packed and still had more waiting to get in. All the things they did to stop Covid made common viruses worse, especially for kids. My daughter is asthmatic, had Covid twice and never went to hospital. Gets what should have been a cold put her in the hospital.

Unfortunately all the playing keep away from people for last two years has really hit kids the hardest now. Stories all over the news about it. Blame whatever political party you want but had NDP been in power would be same right now.

Hope your son gets care soon.

Do some research this is a Canada wide issue and federal has cut buck funding to healthcare over the years

Look outside Alberta it’s no better

slough shark 11-04-2022 10:19 PM

Hope your boy gets better soon it sucks watching our kids be sick and suffer. I also hate our health care system it’s been broken for as long as I can remember and it doesn’t matter who is in charge. Under Rachel round 1 it started bad and got worse under her tenure, never forget that fact. Covid has made health care bad everywhere in Canada, there’s not a province where it’s doing well, between people quitting, retiring or being fired for not getting their shots imply put countrywide we are in a shortage. As bad as it is here we are probably about as good off as anyone in Canada, what is needed is countrywide reform of our system. Hopefully things start to improve, we are able to get more nurses and doctors and there are some system improvements.

Not to mention the extra burden that inflation has put on our health care system. The inflation that is being driven by a federal government, that keeps printing money, and spending irresponsibly. And the carbon tax makes it even worse.

NDP were in power 4 years ago spent billions of dollars and did nothing to solve social issues. Money ain’t fixing what’s broke. It’s going to take some drastic changes or drastic events to get the change that is needed.

DRhunter 11-04-2022 10:30 PM

Very tough to be in that situation! Danielle seems to want to try and tackle some of these issues.. guess we will see if she will be given the opportunity and how successful she will be in removing these bureaucratic health professionals.

The nursing shortage especially is terrifying. The amount of OT being paid to get nurses to work 16s and pick up extra shifts would make your guys' eyes water... is this really cheaper than just treating our healthcare workers properly, including not fighting them on their compensation during a pandemic as they're working their asses off for us?

Reminds me of hearing this summer that the Cross Cancer Institute here in Edmonton had to close a whole inpatient unit. Just sad that real patient outcomes of everyday Albertans being affected because of dumb politics.

Alberta's Healthcare budget has never been higher, what .ore can they do? AHS needs to be dismantled and the system rebuilt. Nurses should be on a 40 hour work week with zero overtime.

This, government is poor at running anything. Privatize all of it and the government pays for each visit or procedure. If it is privatized it would be far more efficient.

Wait times arenot just an Ab. thing. They are all over Canada,US,UK etc. Nutter bar would do what. sfa.She would pass the blame on those that were in power...

This is what happens when our energy and agricultural industries are decimated over time by elected WEF politicians. Certainly not voting NDP Communists. Our big businesses need to stop kiss WEF a#s too.

Health care systems cost money to run, if you reduce our revenue from industry, or increase costs through things like the carbon tax, you have less money left to finance health care.

All I know is I hope the world NEVER let’s a pandemic halt the economy again. This is going to hurt for a decade.

Fixed it for you.

Canada

A country that graduates more lawyers than doctors.

You cant get heathcare, but you can litigate after someone dies because of it.

teledogs 11-05-2022 09:12 AM

Most importantly I hope your son gets the attention he needs. Prayers sent.
This is always how I remember our ER departments to be especially in the larger cities. I can't imagine what it would be like to work in that kind of environment.

A rapidly increasing population and 8-15 years of low commodity prices (less revenue for the province). Things will fall behind. The NDP would only decrease provincial revenues. How would that help? Never could figure out where lefties figure monies will come from

Edmonton hasn’t had a new hospital built since the Grey Nuns opened in 1988. The population has more than doubled in that time. Since 1988, we’ve had 30 years of Conservative governments and four years of NDP. Guess which one announced plans to finally build a new SW hospital in Edmonton?

There is a lot of finger pointing going on here but looks like only OP is able to take off his partisan glasses to recognize that our Conservative provincial governments have been failing us substantially to provide the healthcare infrastructure we require and rightfully deserve as tax payers.

I bet that $1.3 billion Kenney spent on a never-to-be-built pipeline could have gone miles building healthcare infrastructure. :bad_boys_20: enjoy the wait times fellas…

Reread

That pipeline would have built a few hospitals in the future. It was a gamble for sure, but it will go one day. If pedo Joe wound't have somehow got in, that line would be close to pumping bitumen

So I ask, where is the money supposed to come from for all this new infrastructure?

Smoky buck 11-05-2022 09:42 AM

Ok can someone tell me what Canadian province has a good healthcare system right now?

Armorman 11-05-2022 09:44 AM

The waiting rooms were full waaay before Kenney took the reins in this province. They were full in other provinces too. But ya, let's vote for the NDP so that your grandchildren and their children can continue waiting. Nothing will change or nothing good will come out this by voting for more socialism. Our entire system is unsustainable because it was never intended to operate with so many non contributing parasites and a political class bent on sabotaging our economic self determination.

Trochu 11-05-2022 09:53 AM

So you're mad at the party that actually tried to fix the system and their reward is thinking/hoping/wanting the party that did nothing to win as their just deserts?

It's more thinking like that which will cause the NDP to win, nothing to do with the health care system.....

BS I am an ex BC resident who has lots of family across the province. My wife was in healthcare in BC and is here in Alberta. My mother was in and out of hospitals till she past a year ago. Know there system well

Can list issues all day long from lack of services outside of the lower mainland, stupid long wait times beyond what I am hearing here in Alberta, to beds in halls and the same staff shortages

Could get into some down right disturbing stories with BCs system

Try again

That's the funniest thing I've read in weeks. I have family working in the medical system of BC. It's closer to collapsing than Alberta's.

Unfortunately, some people just don't want to hear that it is just as bad or worse in other provinces, run by a different government.
