Nice, on its own. Any chance you checked the ice thickness as well?

No we never. On Facebook the same day there was a report that Buffalo lake near the narrows was 5 inches... I’d say it woulda been close to the same. We parked 2 600 pound machines next to each other with 2 200 pound riders. It’s probably less ice now though with this weather.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, I suspect similar too. I don't think the warm weather will impact the already iced over actual lakes too much. Next week looks to get to "normal" temps for central. Nothing crazy but hopefully it stays before the freezing line during the day.

Not trying to start anything, but how did you figure the ice was safe enough to do so? Sounds kinda sketch to me, not knowing at all what the ice was. Yet I presume you knew what you were doing, just curious.

Devils Lake- 5” of good ice

Lac la Nonne- 2” close to shore. Absolutely unsafe farther than 100 feet off shore

Wabamun- open water off shore, didn’t bother with checking ice close to shore

One small pike at Devils. Been a slow start.

Be careful on Devils lake. It's part of the Sturgeon river system and can be good in one place and very thin ice in another.

7” of good ice on Lower Chain.

bigfis 11-24-2018 04:18 PM

7" on small ponds near Bragg creek.

The Lower Chain lake I’m referring to is north of Athabasca. Sorry for any confusion there.

Lessard averaging 7 inches looks like full coverage. I didn't cross the shifting ice ridge and check center lake but overall 6.5-7. 95% clear ice.

East Pit Lake the same report minus about an inch.

No fish caught in either lake.

pinelakeperch 11-25-2018 08:19 PM

I don't see myself getting out there until the last week of December, at a minimum. C'mon, cold temps!

Kim473 11-27-2018 04:00 AM

Went NE to a small trout pond, 6 to 8 inches of ice. Mons was about 6 inches.

NSR_RAT 11-27-2018 08:48 AM

Does anyone have any ice info about the Cardiff trout pond lately?

Don_Parsons 11-27-2018 08:53 AM

Won't be long before buddy drag the archery shack onto Sylvan Lk,,, we have the extra large back drop this year. Ha

Ice fishing / Archery is the best,,, Old timer and I won't be there till we return from out East.

I hope we get a few days fishing out there.

Good times once again, Ye Ha

It’ll be after Xmas till it’s walkable I’d guess. Been way too warm. I haven’t bothered to look, but I’m close and all the ponds have a skiff of now rotten ice.

I’ll swing by soon though.

It’s a slough. Very shallow. If your within 100 feet of the shore your in no more than 2 feet of water.

RACKER 11-30-2018 06:55 AM

Anyone walked on to Coal at all yet. Need to get out and wet some hooks and hear the jawjacker go off.
