sept 8th at carburn
So me and dad headed to Carburn today.....not much pike action except the one that tried to steal my perch......<big gash behind side fin and one hell of a fight...lol>
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...pikeattack.jpg days catch http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...er8thperch.jpg frying them up http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../fryingpan.jpg May become a regular perch spot i think...even though my dad would rather go for something bigger <and that he can catch  > |
Is that the third pond close to the river or the middle one? I've only ever seen fish out of the third one so far. They look a bit bigger than the Sundance perch, congrats :)
Nice catch n nice looking perch but i really like ur frying pan its ready to go yummmy:lol:
dont know where there's a third one, this is the second one from the parking lot.....
hey baitfisher,
what were u using I been wanting to catch perch there for awhile If you want pike go to the third pond there's tons in there |
worms on a pickerel rig...and this pond has pike too havent caught any myself but people caught them last week when i was there..looking at the map now from the entrance there's only two ponds, this is the bigger one and i was fishing the east side of it about half way down
were there certain areas that u got more action or anywhere from shore is fine
if you make your way from the second on the bike path there is a dirt path that takes you to the third one |
is it not on their map????never tried it...but i had better luck from the east side than the northwest corner i was in last week....casted out about 50 feet and let it hit bottom
nevermind, had to move the google map, didnt see that before......may try it next week...is there another way into it or do you have to walk from the parking lot?
I guess it's not on the map...
anyway thanks for the quick answers! |
it's on the google map but not the park map...
Maybe they don't consider it a pond because the bow runs in to it??
no idea, looks seperated to me.....but since it's not listed in the regs i'm thinkin anything goes...is it just pike in there?
went there last week saw a huge perch flopping around at the surface
sounds good to me, gonna need a bigger bag of worms next time i think..lol
Way to go :) Were you there at the same time you were last time you were there with your dad, or the same time we were there?
Incidentally, I've got one of those monster crappie rods ($20) that we saw being used out there on the way. We'll have to get out there and play with it once it gets here. |

I've caught a nice big pike out of there before. I'm sure there's everything in there that that the bow has since it is attached to the bow when it floods. It's considered part of the ponds and not the bow so the pond regs apply. |
Been in calgay for 11 years...have never fished here, although everyone talks about it...oh right...no walleye LOL.
Anyway, doesn't make a lot of sense why there is perch in the middle lake, but oh well, that's cool. Will have to check that out. In the third one, a mixed bag? Sounds like fun. |

Tried on monday
I was there on monday (7th), didnt get any bite :( , used worms with jigs for perch & some fake perch for pike, started from NW side of the second pond from parking lot then used few spot by the east shore, got skunked! But saw a really baby pike & a dead pike about 6 inches long. Should try the third pond next time. Is there any fish management at that park? Why dont they put lots of perch on the first pond from parking lot (small one)

Who would have thunk the dirtbags who illegally dumped perch in there would create this self-sustaining fishery right in town! Good to see the perch being used.
seems like that's happend alot in calgary's fisheries....
we catch tons of pike out of the second pond, and suprisingly they fight really good, that waters pretty warm. Tons of perch too :)
yeah there was a few pike caught out of there last week, but no one was fishing it this week..lol probably because i fished it during the day this time....might try it again on sunday..
Ya, haven't fish in the second pond for a long long time.
I used to fish at third pond, pretty good for pike. (using spinning rod + storm bait walleye pattern). Fishing right at where the bow river runs into the pond. My favor spot is right here: on google map. Never failed me. |
is it actually part of the bow then????the regs dont state it anywhere
