Deep fryer recommendations?
I’m looking for a deep fryer that I can set up outside on the deck when I want to do some fish, chicken wings, fries, etc. Thinking propane at this point and it would be nice to have it portable enough to take camping at times as well.
I’ve looked at the Cabelas/BPS models and they seem to get mixed reviews. Anyone have a brand/model they can recommend? It would be great if it had a drain with a filter so clean up is easier. Need to make a few more of these and don’t want the deep fry smell inside anymore. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...40bdda8d3d.jpg SS |
I got one of these from CT and use a heavy dutch oven on it because the aluminum pot on the $120 version is pretty flimsy. You could use a stock pot if you need something larger.

Not sure if they still make them, but used one in camp back in the day. Ran off 1lb bottles for portability |
Get a good quality electric and set it up outside if you don't want the smell of deep frying inside. FAR less dangerous than the propane ones, uses less oil, though most are not big enough to do a whole turkey, you can do a whole chicken. Easier to clean, uses less oil, and the oil can be reused. No danger of burning the oil and has a temperature control to hold the oil at exactly the temp you want. Have used both, electric is way easier and you can get very large ones if you want to fry larger things.

Being a Foods teacher, and an outdoorsmen, I have used a number of these units. I found the TFal self filtering unit to be excellent, and the largest single basket unit from Cabelas is sitting in my garage. Both are electric. Both are excellent.

O this is a good topic. I'm looking for something to use outdoors as well!
My wife hates it when I cook indoors haha |

Thanks all. Looks like the TFal is a good option. I’ll check it out.
