Bower Ponds

Hey all. I will be in Red Deer for a week or so mid June. Has anyone fished Bower Ponds lately? Are there still pike there? Anything else worth catching there? I lived in Red Deer when I was a kid, but the only thing in the ponds then was rainbow trout. I know they have canoes etc there, but would they let a guy put his own Kayak in? Thanx in advance.

they use to stock rainbow trout in it, but since the river overflowed into it numerous times they have stopped due to the pike population. I tried fly fishing it until I seen a man with a huge pike I asked him where he caught it and he told me in the pond, and there was no more trout. I felt like a tool afterwards, casting a small fly.

Three mile bend

It might be still fishable. Good place to screw around with a kayak. If possible head out to Dickson trout pond south of spruceview. Great pond for fishing from a kayak.

I got a few from the aerators on both sides of the pond using weedless spoons a few years back. Lots of suckers if you look down from the bridge you can see them. There is trout in heritage park but its a little bit of a walk down some really steep stairs cases then about 1.5km walk to the little lake. it has a cement peir and a bridge and a big island on it but it holds small sized trout and tiny suckers.

You can take your own yak. There is a demo days there this weekend. Havent landed anything there yet, but will be trying again this weekend when I take my kayak down to the show.

Caught this in may this year. My first time at the ponds. I honestly don't think that that pond is really all that self sustaining as far as the pike go. Its such a small water, that unless it floods again and fill with new pike, or is stocked with troute again to feed the pike, it will probably never produce huge pike again...

Well, this is until that little guy grows up. My uninformed opinion.

Really hoping Bower ponds floods this year with more pike and what not. :3

Didn't make it to bower ponds...

Well, I didn't make it to bower ponds to do any fishing. It was kind of not a good idea after mid week. I *did* make it out to the Dickson trout pond on Wednesday and Saturday. I had a great time at the tourney, can't wait to do it again, I'm hoping the rain stops up here so I can practice my C,P,R skills for next year!
