Bullpup 10/22 legal?

Is a bullpup stock on at 10/22 legal? I searched, didn't come up with anything.

reelhooker 02-25-2009 05:51 AM

I believe that there is only one Bullpup that is legal in Canada. And no, unfortunately the 10/22 is not it. I cannot remember which one is. Remember anything cool or sweet is not allowed in Canada. You may want to further your reserch as I have been wrong once before.lol. Good luck RH

AFAIK, it is not a case of legal, but a case of Restricted vs. Non Restricted.

Call the CFC @ 1-800-731-4000 and check the classification of the firearm you are wondering acout.

Hmmm, figures.

Also during my safety course the instructor mentioned something about semi-auto rimfires not having a 5 shot limit. Any truth to this?

If you check the regs (don't take the forum to be gospel, doublecheck always) it says there's a difference in magazine size allowed for rimfires and centerfire cartridges. A .22 rimfire isn't restricted to 5 shots.

whats a bull pup:huh::huh:

FishBrain 02-25-2009 01:48 PM

I bought a .22 lr in the spring and it came with a 10 clip. a friend of mine has a 30 clip for his remington. I was told that if I could make a clip that could hold 1000 for the .22 then go for it. This came from a F&W officer. no limit on the rim fires...yet

The Rog Man 02-25-2009 05:23 PM

I have half a dozen 25 round mags for my .22 and they are completely legal.

nightmagic 02-25-2009 05:34 PM

Not to be confused with Buhl Bull Pup or AGM-12 Bullpup.

The Steyr AUG is one of the most successful bullpup riflesBullpup is a firearm configuration in which the action and magazine are located behind the trigger. This increases the barrel length relative to the overall weapon length, permitting shorter weapons for the same barrel length, saving weight and increasing maneuverability. It alternatively allows for longer barrels on weapons of the same length, which can increase muzzle velocity. Higher muzzle velocities result in flatter trajectories, a longer effective range, and, in some cases, increased lethality.

Absolutly wrong. Aftermarket/add-on bull pups are prohib in Canada. A few factory made bullpup rifles are legal such as the Tavor and Norinco 97 and are both available in non-restricted versions.

Invalid Zero 02-26-2009 02:48 PM

Canada sucks.

*goes and pouts in the corner*

'' Why would I want one''..... That is a dumb question. Why does a stamp collecter want to collect stamps? And what would he use them for?

Exactly. I want a 10/22 for a plinker, why not make it look interesting while I'm at it.

Oh well. I guess I'll just throw a bi-pod on it and call it a day. Thanks for the help guys.

The absolute last thing any firearms enthusiast should do is retreat because of what the "anti's might think". Give an inch, they take a mile. Hal's apparrently already surrendered.

Matt L. 02-27-2009 10:11 AM

I'd like that 10/22 pistol. I think that'd be fun!

wannabe 02-27-2009 10:54 AM

You only give the anti's more ammo if you commit a crime with it. Silly:wave:

A little off topic, but have you seen Knox Axiom's stock for the 10/22 I think it's good for std. and bull barrels, does not fold so that might make it more "Can. Legal" and it's $99.99 US

Thats cool! I gotta get me one of those 10/22 guns. They look like so much fun.

Invalid Zero 02-27-2009 01:31 PM

Can stocks be ordered from US online stores? Or am I better off finding a local store to order it in for me?

Sheesh!!!!!!!...sorry....I just know if somebody showed up at my place to ask permission to clean out some gophers, and he had a rig like that...it might raise my eyebrow.... NOT SURRENDERED...just realistic....I enjoy different firearms, have owned hundreds over the 40+ years I have been playing with them....I think maybe we have to be realistic at times....my opinion only....new here, just hoping we can maintain the few rights we have left

CaberTosser 02-27-2009 06:45 PM

While I may have come off a tad harsh, when reading your suggestion of appeasing the anti's; I was suddenly reminded of Neville Chamberlains speech of "Peace in Our Time".

i used to get wierd looks with a standard 10/22 carbine and a 25 round mag. so i know what you're saying but hey legal is legal right:evilgrin:

the axiom stock can be order from canadian distributors. find anyone that carries knoxx or blackhawk and they should be able to hook you up. send me a pm and i'll try to find the number to the company i order mine from last April(i'm still waiting for mine by the way) i think knoxx is finally begining production of the 10/22 stocks this month.:mad3:

it will be one of the best stock you can get for the price $105 canadian if i remember right.

ABDUKNUT 02-27-2009 10:33 PM

Removable bullpup stocks are classified as prohibited devices.

Purpose built bullpup firearms such as the PS-90 and IMI Tavor are not subject to this regulation since the stock is integral to their workings and is thus not removable.
