Border Security on GEO- scripted?

It plays more like a documentary than a scripted reality show, but for the life of me, I can not believe how incredibly stupid some people are.

Unclaimed bars of gold?
Not claiming huge amounts of cash?
Texting about drugs and smuggling in the car?
Sneaking heroin across the border in the battery compartment of a camera?

Ya, ok I get that one, drugs rot their brains, but c'mon :bad_boys_20:

Anyone else watch it?

brownbomber 01-17-2014 10:05 PM

My dad is obsessed by it. I watch it to humor him. But as far as reality goes it's not bad. I like yet decision making process to deny entry to some.

pickrel pat 01-17-2014 10:06 PM

I would say renacted..

sparky660 01-17-2014 10:21 PM

Have you heard the news about the pipe bomb at Edmonton International? People ARE that stupid.

number one rule in law enforcement:

Common Sense is not very common!

brslk 01-17-2014 11:49 PM

Most criminals get caught because they are stupid. Not because cops are smart.

It's like being chased by a bear, you don't have to be the fastest runner in the world. You just need to be faster than the guy you are with.

1000yards 01-17-2014 11:49 PM

Love that show,
watched the aussie one too,
Think its pretty real and unscripted..
but I may be dumb lol

leeaspell 01-17-2014 11:50 PM

Oh I forgot I had $50,000 in Canadian and us money in my suitcase. Geez, I forgot I put that handgun in my babies car seat. Geez, I didn't think showing up at the border high and with weed would be a problem, let me call my drunk buddy with no drivers license to come drive my car home. Geez I didn't know I couldn't bring 1,500 packs of smokes across with me, geez whod a thunk assaulting a Leo in the states would make me inadmissible to Canada

fishstix 01-18-2014 07:25 AM

I don't think it is scripted Ken. I saw Corey Feldman on there and he can't act.

omega50 01-18-2014 07:38 AM

"Scripted" such an ugly word

I prefer "Edited for content"

Like it. I have seen some crazy things at the airport. The show is real as there was a privacy complaint against it.

Personal smuggling is the way to go. There are only so many people tht can be searched in a day. They have to rely on observation to catch bad guys.

Rule of thumb...NEVER LIE TO BORDER GUARDS!!!!

Did you see the Aussie episode where the US airline gave everyone a bag lunch while they were starting to land and after customs form was filled out. People shoved the bag in their carry on.

In customs they all receive a $200 Aussie fine for not declaring the oranges. It made the news at the time.

bat119 01-18-2014 11:06 AM

I just watched a guy swallow a bag of drugs, go into fits until he was unconscious than was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Looked real to me didn't look scripted

pseelk 01-18-2014 11:17 AM

Just look what happened in Edmonton.Even after they determined it was a pipe bomb, security still tried to give it back to the kid.If that isnt the hieght of stupidity I dont know what is.

KWO 01-18-2014 11:31 AM

My brother is an LEO. Whenever we get together, he always has a few new stories involving incredibly stupid decisions and behaviour by both criminals and ordinary people. Some of the stories are truly epic. In today's modern world, full of civility and safety nets, Darwin has been handcuffed.

bruinsmaniac 01-18-2014 06:41 PM

I think most of the Americans think that we Canadians are the dumb ones. I never thought there are that many stupid people out there! Maybe ignorance IS an excuse

Ken07AOVette 03-23-2014 12:40 PM

Ok, seriously, just started watching an Aussie episode, and this Asian fellow has suitcases full of food! Declared nothing! "oh I'm sorry, I though it said meat" to which the agent replied 'is this not written in your language? It says you must declare ALL food'!

I guess people really are that stupid.

Lol, 29 cartons of cigarettes undeclared and staying there 2 days????

Wow.

Morons.

Redfrog 03-23-2014 01:59 PM

It's on TV. How can it not be real??:thinking-006: They are actually filming it as it happens. Right in front of your eyes.:thinking-006:

wildcat111 03-23-2014 03:28 PM

i worked at an airport for yrs and i have seen the things that customs takes from passengers, i think the show isn't scripted, they get thousands of people walking threw everyday and only show us the exciting ones, so really there isn't that many stupid people , just a few that think there smarter than everyone else

We ARE!!! Arab Dude has 150K undeclared form Yemen. Has made numerous trips to Yemen bringing back large sums of cash. SORRY for delaying you sir.

Girl with a pot prescription from Washington crossing the border with ONE mary jane chocolate bar in her purse. CUFFS and a perp walk for you sweetie.

This country is creazy.

hover 03-23-2014 05:32 PM

We banged into the wall at US customs with my buddies dad's car when we were young, and yes stupid. They actually let us cross that time too.

huntinstuff 03-23-2014 05:41 PM

Never underestimate peoples ability to be stupid.

Everyone plans the robbery, no one plans the escape route.

Everyone plans the murder, no one plans after that.

Cops find these people based on experience, some smarts, but mostly the ton of errors the criminal makes before and after.

You truly wouldnt believe it.

Interviewing someone who is guilty is just an exercise. There is actually a smell you can detect when someone who is stressed lies to you.

Ask any police dog

elkdump 03-23-2014 06:13 PM

my son in Ft Mac RCMP arrested a moron , the moron's 3rd time unlucky,

3 times nailed by police in 24 hour period for impaired driving,

first time driving pic-up no valid license tags and ins , smelt of boose, truck towed, given choice to walk,

second time, 2 or 3 hours later driving his wife's car with valid plates, but driving erratically, couldnt produce DL license, was charged driving under suspension, blew over on breathalyzer

3 rd time several hours later after being released ,driving ATV on road allowance , driving under suspension, and in possession of open liquor

apparently the "moron" has several other impaired convictions in past years from other provinces, needs his legs broken and a few years HARD time in jail, not a summer resort !

^^^ this :)

bison 03-23-2014 11:19 PM

It would not be a bad show,if they stuck to one story at the time and not have 3 going at once and repeating half the happenings every time they jump stories.
Having to watch repeats 5 times in a row is getting old in a hurry as well.

But then, TV sucks anyway, i hardly watch any of the crap they show anymore.:rolleye2:
