I'm pretty sure most guys don't.

I'm unsure what type of hunting your doing, but those big, busy, dove hunts you often use 3 20gauge semis at once.

Shoot one, 2 loaders on the others. Just keep on passing em back!

We went down this past spring. Due to the current gov't, we couldn't get a straight answer on how to import our own guns, and it was highly recommended by the outfitter to just rent. Research on other forums suggested the same.
That ruling power has since changed ( I think it had actually changed between the time we booked and when we actually went), and some travellers are now saying Argentina is once again firearms freindly!
On a different note, the previous poster brought up a valid point of discussion, in that the shooting gets so hot and heavy, it is very hard on a gun. These guys can literally wear out a gun each season, due to the number of rounds they go through. It is not hard for a shooter to shoot a few cases of shells per day, and the dove shooting there is basically non-regulated. They are pests in the field that they are trying to eradicate (unsuccessfully). We went down with our group in the "slow" season( our primary goal was red stag and misc big game). We only saw tens of thousands of doves, instead of the customary millions!

I know a few guys also that went down last spring and as far as I know Argentina is not a very gun friendly country.
They have some very vague and restrictive firearm rules.
I wouldn't take my gun down because I don't know if you would get it back home.
They all rented and the rifle ammo that was supplied wasn't very good quality.

I'll second what was said before and recommend renting. When I went down I watched another hunter struggle for hours to get his gun through customs in Buenos Aires, as he only spoke English and the officers refused to speak English. Maybe if your Spanish is good it will be easier, but it still seemed like a hassle. I'm glad I rented.

Yep. I rented also. Decent selection of guns from most guides. Ammo not so much. Renting is the right option as customs officers in BA do not look kindly on anybody with a gun(hunter or sport shooters)(think in terms of extreme gun control) or just foreigners in general.:scared0018:

The current fees to import your firearms into Argentina are not really worth it.
Personally, I find them and the process prohibitive.
I would also suggest you rent a rifle there.
