Who else had chores to do this Christmas season?

Standard one for everyone this Christmas was snow shovelling. At least in the Calgary area. Had about 6 inches to shovel this morning.

My shower grout had problems again in a new area. So dremel and clean. Waiting for grout to dry then need to caulk.

We hadn't cleaned the carpets in 8 years. Sooo.. I was screaming mad at dirt and rented a carpet cleaner. 7 hours later....enough is enough. Wet carpets but do it yourself ends up with far cleaner carpets than hiring someone. I went over the same area up to 4 times. Cleaning the stairs was exhausting. Should probably get the ducts cleaned next.

Tomorrow my only chore besides returning the rental will be perch removal.

Well in keeping with the thread...about a month ago I had a toilet supply line on main floor leak, wiped out half the ceiling in my basement rec room. I cleaned it up and hung drywall a couple weeks ago, but over the last few days taped and coated it out. It's ready to prime and texture tomorrow or Monday, whenever I feel like it. Lucky for me I do this for a living so not really a big deal...

I also bottled three carboys of red wine I started in October 2016, a Brunello, Amarone, and a Mosiac Red from Australia.

Kept a little busy but not too bad.

Impressed with anyone who can drywall. It is a skill I don't even want to learn I am so sure I would suck at it.

If you need help with the chore of drinking the wine...just let me know. :sHa_shakeshout:

How does your wine usually turn out! I want to try that also.

My garage floor is unacceptable and the only thing left on my to do list. Yesterday was busy, got all my Christmas lights working again in proper order. Purged the hot water tank, cleaned the washer and dryer out, cleaned the humidifier screen, rode my mountain bike from the top floor to the basement about twenty times during intermission 😁 shoveled snow including my deck in case there’s a mad scramble for any exit and becuase my GWP feels that if there is snow on the deck it’s okay to wiz there! Other than that I waxed my cross country skis and getting pumped for some warmer weather. 👍

Neighbor went with a company that laid an acrylic floor in their garage. Looks pretty spectacular. Cost like $4000 but you can hit it with a hammer and doesn't chip. Lifetime warranty is only as good as the company exists. They sand blasted. Then blasted with tiny metal pellets. Then acid washed. Filled in all cracks.

I turn out what I consider a first rate wine, generally better than the average bulk commercial stuff, on par with really good independent vintners. I use high quality kits, with good grape varietals, been making my own for about ten years now (my family has a tradition of making wine, and an uncle mentored me). I try and bulk age for a year or longer before I bottle. And you are welcome to try some, whenever you are in the neighborhood!

Sounds like proper cleaning and sterilization of the equipment is one of the keys.:)

I like this idea! When the wife and I bought this house we made the agreement that the garage was mine! She could have her nice doily room with tea cups and fancy china but it didn’t work out that way. So far she has bent the trim with her mirror and accidentally hit the bottom door panel. I tell ya hall, one more time and she’s in the drive way. The door panel was an accident and could of happened to me to. The RCMP suggested recently to keep your garage door opener out of sight so she did, well..it was bumped while she was backing out, ouch! Luckily she didn’t break the back window on her vehicle while doing it and I was able to make it look decent from the outside. I can tell my buds it was the time a cougar tried to break into the garage, He he😁 say what was this thread about again:thinking-006:

Absolutely critical. I also use water than has been through two big charcoal filters, you don't want to add 'taste'. I don't use a filter system either, makes wine taste like paper pulp. Just carefully rack it as called for during stages, final rack before it goes off for bulk aging, and it is polished. Happy to give any advice.

Jeepers. A bar hopping trip to your and Twisted's place would be a two day driving adventure.

Don’t forget about cleaning your laundry dryer vent! Pretty good fire hazard.

Totally. When I replaced a bunch of parts I cleaned it out. There was burnt lint in the dryer.

I had about a million things I’ve been planning to get to over the holidays.
Hopefully I can get to one of them tomorrow. (But it’s looking doubtful)

I almost pulled the trigger on that until they said it doesnt like welders

I bet if I wanted to I could cut that cost down to less than $1000. My brother is a coatings specialist😁

Those coated floors are pretty but you sure don’t want to drive a sled on them with carbides on the skis.

I had the fun seasonal chore and starting a frozen tractor to feed cattle twice this past week. Once it took 6 hours with a propane heater and freezing by toosh off to get it going. Today was about 3 hours. I was going to try to find the leaks in an air suspension today... Leak check froze in place upon contacting the air hose, so that was abandoned...

I should have welded a bunch of corral panels for the pigs this week. Couldn't be bothered with the cold and snow. Have to do the job outside.

Lol I hear you. I had to replace an alternator and then get the truck to fire in this weather we're having up north. Plugged in, pan of charcoal under the oil pan and used my welder on cv to boost it. Alternator must have taken the batteries with it. I also have 2 lambs to slaughter and butcher I've been putting off waiting for warmer temps so that will probably happen Tuesday.
