I was at this lake today with scare crows on shore
 
They scare crows were there to scare the birds away I guess,there was a cormorant sitting on top of one,you guys seen any scarecrows arround?

No but then you don't see many cormorants either.

I have only seen a few... they just seem so out of place here.
Pelicans as well.

I always associate them with costal waters.

Were probly there to scare any geese away. A dozen geese can make a big mess with thier droppings in just an hr or 2 .

Down at dried meat lake there are quite a lot of cormorants and pelicans as well, these birds are a big problem for re stocking trout and such.Yes they are coastal birds but theres lots inland as well,drive to the bridge on 21 and dried meat bridge and you will see lots.thanks

Seen quite a few pelicans on pigeon the last couple weekends.

Pelicans have being in Alberta for years,in some older bird books they list nesting colonies on several central Alberta lakes. It was the use of chemicals like ddt that caused a down turn in numbers. They are now making a come back,dont know if its good or not but they are back to stay I would assume
