AB Election
Is it safe to try to open a thread on this? Seeing that it is touted to be one of the more crucial AB elections, perspectives outside the realm of of the usual news sources, pundits may be useful, helpful.

I'll sum up this election as follows. One choice leads to economic prosperity for Alberta and more autonomy from Ottawa. The other leads to less economic prosperity for Alberta, more Ottawa interference, and more economic meddling by quebec. Pretty cut and dry this time around.

While crucial, it's also one of the more cut and dry elections. And remember, if you "just can't bring yourself to vote for Danielle", stay home that day, have a few drinks, and keep telling yourself "it'll all be over soon". We'll take care of the rest. |
I walked into the Physiotherapy last month to find out that we do not get 3 free visits anymore threw health care .....Thanks You Danielle smith ( United Conservatives )

Everything comes at a cost Really need to look at every angle and remember nothing is really free with government |
I'd also like to add that if you're happy with the direction that Canada and the world is heading in then Rachel is your gal! She'll make sure you get the welfare state (free physiotherapy) that you're "entitled" to receive.

I'm not liking the amount of orange signs I'm seeing plastered around the city, I can see 3 from my front door

Our taxes will go up as normal . Fuel will go up at the pumps as normal . That is a fact ! Like the old saying you can't get away from Death and Taxes . If we can at least get some of our health care back that we had before the Conservatives came in .We will see something for our taxes . Then Life will go on as normal. Do not vote for who we had last . If you really want to see more changes other than that , don't be looking for anyone you voted for . Get off your ass and go work over time . |

Experienced enough of the NDP policies to know they are not for my personal lifestyle and can also tell you for a fact they did not improve BCs healthcare system past or present. The issues with healthcare are across the whole country regardless of provincial party. The system needs to change as it’s no longer viable for the population. But vote how ever you feel is right for you but let’s be honest regardless if it’s NDP or UCP we will be met with disappointment |
People are easily bought
One of these politicians will make an offer and that will be it. |
Nahhhhhh, it doesn't really matter who wins. If it doesn't work out, in a few years vote them out. People get so worked up over this stuff. The running of the Province is behind the throne and they will make sure stuff runs ok. In the morning, you wake up and have your coffee. The garbage still gets picked up, kids still go to school, etc., etc.
It is not life and death. I remember speaking to an immigrant who LOVES Canada compared to where he came from. He says the rest of us, who have never lived elsewhere, are bored and just make up stuff to complain about. People die in his country and they have nothing. He is right. This is a damned good place to live when you simply take a 360 view of the World. We are going to be ok. |
I'm hearing a lot of indecision from people this year, makes me nervous because it's such a no-brainer for me.
My neighbor (mid 20's, 2 small kids) had an NDP sign on his lawn for a couple days last week, then it was suddenly gone. The next day his parents came into town for a visit, they are from Saskatchewan where he grew up...I can't help but wonder if he is hiding it from them?! I'm pretty sure he (my neighbor) voted Conservative last time. Interested to see if it returns when they leave in a few days. |
There is no such thing as free! Everything has a cost to the taxpayer. If you want more paid for healthcare, education or whatever, be prepared to be told how to live, where to live and what job you can do. Control is control. Give them useless bastards an inch, they take a mile. As usual, vote for who will screw things up the least. IMO that is UCP.

Truly amazed that voters think the NDP offers anything!! Certainly Prentice et al, needed a reset. The Conservatives were in power so long they weren't listening. I'm also amazed at Danielle's ability to insert both feet past her molars. WTH? Anyhow, a UCP majority by one seat will probably give us the best governance possible.

Never mind the fact that when I finally saw a doctor, I never got a proper assessment. Just a few quick questions and I was on my way. We have a health system in Canada, not healthcare. This really ****es me off as someone who used to work in healthcare and has seen the decline. I’m seriously considering paying to go see a physician in the US for a proper health assessment that’s how bad it’s gotten in Canada. But that’s all besides the point because neither the UCP or NDP want to change the system. Both parties want people to suffer on long waiting lists to protect Canada’s “Golden Calf” socialized government medicine. A system where we all suffer equally and no one can access high quality healthcare. Any politician who was willing to bring in the Swiss style healthcare would instantly have my vote. |

Voting for a party that wants everything centralized and controlled is how you get corruption and higher taxes. Eventually in those systems you become a slave to the state. Where they provide your housing, your food, and your healthcare, but if you don’t show up to work you’re not fired, you’re shot. Everyone thinks that Africa is poor because of European imperialism. At least that’s what we’re taught in schools. If you look though, the majority of Africa has embraced socialist/communist governments since the 1950’s, and as a result we see the corruption and poverty spread throughout Africa. Although one country has avoided socialism, and decided to go another way. Botswana embraced capitalism and free market policy and since 1966 has had the fastest growing economy in the world. The simple fact is we have forgotten what gave us a high quality of life for so long, free markets and the idea that we can look after ourselves better than government can. |

I can't stomach voting for Dum Dum Danni...she's a liar and talks out both sides of her mouth. She can't be trusted. And I can't vote NDP. I'm gonna sit this one out. First time I haven't voted. But Smitty doesn't deserve my vote just because she is a supposed Conservative.
NOW! If Travis Toews was the guy. That's someone you can ride the river with. I would proudly have voted for him. But he left......and that too makes me question why he can't stand behind her. That tells me a lot. |

Anyone voting NDP is shooting themselves in the foot including government workers. Those workers may want to look up “Rae Days” in Ontario. |
