All kinds of crown land and access, way to numerous to even describe. Best advice....go for a scout,

Anywere close to a road either has a bait or a old one still left from days gone by. Get off the beaten path still lots of space . Alot of outfitters hunt the crown north and west of town as well.

North of Calling lake, either side of the highway. So much crown land but as mentioned, outfitter has a ton of bait sites but you can easily find your own or spot and stalk up there.

Another option would be to move further west closer to Slave Lake. No baiting allowed, equals few to no outfitters.

why ? not much for bear or quality of bear , thanks

Further west and north and certain wmu north of Athabasca have no baiting because of the elusive one horned almost extinct grizzly ghost :angry3:

Oh my Friend, there are Griz in the Martin Hills, 511 has no baiting because of that. There have been Griz yearlings wandering by the LLB river area, so they are expanding from Martin Hills or Swan Hills. Either way, don't get too comfortable in Martin Hills.

Thanks!
That's what I thought...just needed a second opinion :)

About 10 years ago a Guide who did jet boat hunts on the Athab had a client shoot a young griz on a bait site by accident (Vischer may be the outfit?) American did not get charged as no one had seen a griz in that area before and it was a young male and the hunter was not told of possible griz in the area and had never seen a grizzly before.

That was 10 years ago.

More since then though.
