jerky recipe???
 

Just wondering if anyone here has any good jerky recipe they want to share?? I lost mine and don't have a clue where to find it.

my hunting partner makes the best jerky around... but it's not from 'scratch' per se. he uses a mix that he buys from the butcher supply stores (not too expensive) and doctors it up a bit with some extra pepper. Then smokes it in an old fridge. mmmmmmmmm...... jjjjjeerrrkkkyyyyyy...... mmmmmmm

Augh! Now I've got drool on my keyboard...

I picked up some hickory seasoning from the store and make a big batch it turned out pretty decent. Not as good as the home made recipe I had but still pretty damn good.

Here is a recipe that I got from a neighbour.
It has a sweet flavour to it. Best if smoked.


1 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of curing salt
1 cup of Soya Sauce
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup Royal Red wine
1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon of Tabasco sauce

Optional ingredients
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of Worchester sauce
dash of cayenne powder

Good for about 5 lbs of meat

I have tried several jerky recipes, etc, and have found the Hi Mountain mixes to be the best ever. You can get them at Canadian Tire, Sportsman Den and Backcountry sports. They are simple to use and very tasty. BEL
