First big game animal for the little fella
1 Attachment(s)
After a couple of years of him missing out on the kill he was finally with me.
Mini me jumped on a stick and snapped it and I cringed as I am trying to be stealthy. So I figure I will bull grunt to hopefully cover the sound of the recently broken branch. 75 yards away things start shaking i hear antler then I see antler and there’s a bull ripping right down past us. I muster up a bull grunt as he is at 15 yards quartering towards us stopped him in his tracks. The old bowtech flung an arrow true and 75 yards away lay our winter meat. |
Well done!

Well done, congrats, especially with a bow.:sHa_shakeshout:

Nice work. Some good eats there. I bet the little guy is hooked now. Must be just the angle of the picture or how your bow is laying but your arrows in your quiver look like they are about 5 feet long. Lol

That’s awesome, brings back memories of my little guy.
I called him my moose magnet, he’s been with me for 4 of my archery moose, 2 of my Dads rifle moose, one of my friend Dave’s moose and one of my friend Keith’s moose. He’ll be 17 in a week and has his moose draw this fall, hopefully I can be with him when he gets his moose this year :sHa_shakeshout: |

Ed's Heads Taxidermy
Hey I'm a Calgary taxidermist just getting up and running.
I've mounted lots of deer, Elk, and black bear heads but never a moose. If you still have the cape for this guy I'd like to mount him for you at cost, for your son. It'd give me the opportunity to mount my first moose head. If you don't still have the cape I know where to get one. |

Sorry this one was quite a ways back so the cape way discarded and the antlers cut out of skull. We packed it out with horses so had to leave it behind this time. I will keep you in mind for a future moose. |
Awesome memory. Congrats and fun times when the kids join us. Thanks for posting. Brings back some great memories of me as a kid with my dad and uncles and my son, dad and I.
From your pic, I think my son was just a bit older when we came across a 2nd year bull in Nov. Some missed stalks and some sneaking around a fresh cut block got us in front of him again. It was fun having him hold legs while I did the work. Then we had to drag Bullwinkle in the snow 5 kms down cut lines to the road where my truck was parked with a old 350 Honda during a snow storm. He still talks of that hunt. I was beside him 2 yrs ago when he got his first big game animal at the age of 19, a 54 inch bull in Nov. And he got to drive the argo out with his moose loaded up. |
Well done!!
|
Sounds good thanks.
That sounds like an epic hunt ! |
Of course it goes without saying if you ever decide you want him mounted capes are easy to find. I know where to get my hands on one right now that would be a match.
|
Congratulations. Nothing better than hunting with the kids.
