packs

Looking to get my first sheep hunting pack and was wondering who in central/southern alberta sells the different brands but actually knows how to fit them. I have issues finding one for me seeing as Im 6'4".

Lots about packs in other threads. Do a search on packs.

Exo 5500 are comfortable for taller guys

Exo 5500

I'm running an EXO Mountain 5500. I have a long torso and it fits me great. No issues with a sheep and an elk last fall. Well built and easy to adjust. I highly recommend this pack.

I'm not necessarily looking for pack reviews, just who sells what and who knows how to properly fit them. Thanks for all the pack info though.

For the big-name players in hunting packs such as Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo, MR, and Seekoutside, you predominantly have to order online directly through the maker. MR however sells retail, and I believe JimBow's now carries them - that would be where I would start if you're looking at getting some hands-on.

For general pack-fitting, MEC and Camper's Village are good places to start. They can at least measure your torso, and give you the basics of pack fitment. This can also be done at home with a helping hand as well.

I cant speak to all the pack companies but if you go to the fitting charts and measure yourself up then call the distributors I have found they do a great job of getting you the right size. There are some places in calgary and edmonton that sell MR. If i were you I would find a pack that youre interested in and ask around see if you can check someones out. I have a metcalf in med im 6' and it fits great the sizing chart puts you in an xl but if youre in edmonton you could try it out

Just picked up MR Metcalf in Large. Very nice pack, a high quality unit. Can't wait to put it to the test.
Jim Bow's doesn't stock them in Edmonton but will bring them up from their store in Calgree.

Yeah, I've tried Exo, Kifaru, and Stone Glacier and prior to each purchase I called direct to ask all sizing/fit questions. Time well spent for sure!
