Monster Lingcod - This isn't no burbot!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZRKYPZUfpo
Monster Lingcod Fishing in a Small Fishing Craft with glow jigs tipped with Salmon belly. These fish are some of my favorite to pursue as they will hold on structure and if you drop your jig in the right spot it won't take long at all for one of these massive fish to grab on. They put up an excellent battle often pulling drag without much difficulty. Best of all these fish are excellent eating and one of the top notch fish to eat in the ocean. So once the battle is done you have one fine dining experience to put in the cooler. Check out this quick limit for my uncle and I out on the ocean. Tried to hand the second one off to my uncle but he said after watching me work the first one he'd pass. I guess all the more workout for me. |

I live giant lings, this year I caught my personal best at 55lbs.

Excellent fish. Tasty. Looks a little more personal on a smaller boat. Nice calm water looks good.

Nice video I e been meaning to make one out on the coast catching those tasty monsters. Here’s a picture of some big longs and yelloweyes from 6-7 years ago on the maiden voyage of my boat. Keep the videos coming

Could you provide some detail on the rod. What line is it rated for? I'm headed out next summer for a week's vacation and want to know if the rod I have has enough backbone to it.
Also, what weight of jig were you using? |

Hope that helps. You want a rod with back bone. If you have a soft rod it's quite difficult to pull them off bottom. Any of the meat sticks will work. Also jigging a 24 ounce lead with a soft rod is a chore. It's a workout on a stiff rod. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

That’s a big O’L long stepanuk!!! How deep did you catch it?
My dad caught this one trolling for salmon it was pretty interesting to be watching him land it from my boat. We weren’t sure if he didn’t have a big spring for a little while. |
Awesome guys, totally jealous. I have 2 buddies that I regularly see bringing in massive ling, but I have yet to catch 1. It is a bucket list fish for me this next year, for sure.

Caught a 50 lb'er at Rupert. I laid it out on the counter at 4a.m. when I got home and my wife woke up and came out to the kitchen to greet me....and almost freaked when she saw "that thing"!!!
Sure an ugly fish. Lots of meals. Sure good eating. Actually prefer it over Halibut. |
46.2 lbs - 50 inches long..... the wife caught it.

Great fish guys... seems everyone is after monster lings!
If you want to see the biggest one we have ever got and another pig then here are a couple more videos. The biggest was 50 inches (end of first video). When I hooked it in the video you'll see I thought I was snagged, even tried to pop it off the snag... then the bottom started moving. 50" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoCzspU4Gtg 45" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxekMxxj9cg |
