Man den / reloading room almost ready

Put in the workspace surface yesterday with the brother and man is it solid. 1.5" of laminated ply with 4x4 posts, 2x4 frame... you could park a tank on it!

Now just waiting on the redding press, dies and LE wilson trimmer.... and to get my scale back due to damage during the basement reno :(

Should be reloading before the snow clears.

Looks good. That plus the Lapua brass on the table is a great start! Everyone should have a good reloading setup! It’s a Zen garden for gun cranks :)

Indeed

Great Start. I couldn't tell from the photo but I always recommend non carpeted floor.

You need a good cushion for your stool.:)

That's how it starts.... then more and more gotta have it stuff, pretty soon you'll have a reloading/gunroom then a mancave garage.

I will start with a tack on the seat so I stay alert during those first attempts :)

Maybe later I can switch to a comfy stool.

First batch done!!

I loaded up 20 rounds with varget

5 at 42
5 at 42.5
5 at 43
5 at 43.5

Lapua brass. Federal large rifle match primers. 165gr accubonds tried to get them all at 2.928 coal which is 20 thou off the lands (using the old sharpie and dented case method)

Off to shepard on Sunday to see if it'll produce anything .....

I was a little concerned because the rounds I normally shoot are 2.7-ish coal but these do fit in the mag and close nicely in the action.....

Any of you out there have any suggestions or concerns I should note before I pull the trigger?

What a great experience... definitely like mad science!!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...03ef2e2686.jpg

I assume you are loading 308 based on your selection of powder and charge weights for the 165 acubonds. By seating them long you have created more boiler room and your starting charge weight is on the low end...so no worries. Bet you start getting good groups right at your start point of 42grs.

Good to know. Thanks for the input. Yes .308 it is.

Next weekend (depending on how Sunday goes) I'll up the charge.

Thinking I need a chrony now too.....

My experience with 155 - 168 gr bullets in the 308 ... accuracy nodes are often found with about 42 and again at 44 gr of Varget. These charge weights will not give the velocity the 308 is capable of, but for applications to 300M they are often good groupers. Also, my 308’s like IMR 4166 as much as Varget. For plinking 125gr Sierra Spitzer FB are surprisingly accurate.
