Went for a drive and what did I see?

12 bears, 4 cranes (either Sandhill or Whooping....not too sure yet), 3 caribou, and 1 moose.

This place is just teeming with wildlife.

This bear was in a trappers front yard just down the road. He's a biggun!!!

A lone caribou ran in front of the truck and stopped within bow range.

A momma bou' and her yearling calf.

It's nice to see that even with the intrusion of the drilling, thjere is still lots of critters around.

Sounds like a good drive.

I'd guess sandhill on the cranes. Were they snowy white or a light brownish beige?

Hoochie Papa 05-24-2009 09:19 AM

They had white necks, but brownish bodies with a red crown on the top of their head.

I just googled it. Sandhills. Definately Sandhills. Yeah.. definately.

Looks like a good sized bear!

Here's one more. Blew the sidewall out on a tire, so parked on the side of the road, and up the road about 200 yards, Mama bear with twins crosses the road.

Here's a pic of the twins.

And Momma.

That is one of the reasons I really like my job is to see a lot of Alberta and some of BC, the sights and wildlife in those areas. Although last time I was up HP's way all I saw was snow, ice roads and stunted trees, it sure feels desolate in the middle of the winter.

Cool pictures HP thanks for sharing!

Great pics... thanks for sharing

Great pics HP. Looks like things are still pretty wet up that way. Hows the weather been??? We are being told that our work up there has pushed till late July.

We have had a couple of days in the 20's, but for the most part, it's ugly weather. Had a little snow yesterday. Suppopsed to rain today. Everything is on swamp mats, but they just take the edge off.

The weather has everything pushed back. Who are you with up here Hilgy?

HP,

I work for Schlumberger out of Red Deer but it sounds like we might be spending a bit of time up there.

We did a big project for Nexen this winter and have another for EOG this summer.
There is a rumor that there might be some work for Nexen as well.

With the way things are looking aroung the Red Deer area I dont care where they send me as long as we are working.

Sorry for the Hi-jack

Hilgy
