Nice thing about fishing is you can become an expert at any given method. In the end...people feel most comfortable with the techniques they know the best and are most productive at it.
I can use the kink method also...it does work at times...as does the panfish popper, pencil bobber, marmish and finger held...even a halibut rod worked once for perch.
As long as you are having fun...more power to you in any method you use.
