I had issues like that with mine as well.... I found that for the first few times that i took it out i had to take it inside the night before in order to keep it warm for it to fire up.... just until it gets broken in i think....
Make sure that you keep priming it until the air bubbles are removed from the gas line too.... mine runs like a top these days... great augers!
