In one evening last summer from my boat I caught over 40 whitefish in a manner of 2 hours with my flyrod using small caddis flys. So the bait fish are there. 10 years ago from my buddies boat we caught over 30 lakers in one day all around the 2lb mark. I still think the lakers are there but where? My fish finder always shows lots of fish but are they lakers? You have to remember that Spray is also a very long lake and the fish could be spread out anywhere Anyways great fish thx for the pic and happy fishing
The issue is the shortage of suitable forage for the lakers to grow as stated previously. Whitefish forage will not grow the trout large. There is a gap in the forage base that makes it hard for fish to go from eating insects to whitefish (close enough to illustrate the point)
