Everyone to their own. All I know is more and more guides are turning to tillers in ocean and river applications. Any how what is one of those little center consoles good for, covering the driver? What about the clients or friends???

If you want coverage get a windshield or full canvas, otherwise go open.
My 10 cents
I am going to wear a guidewear suit and run a tiller. My console doesn't even cover me when the weather is nasty and just takes up space and adds weight that isn't needed.

As soon as I can get a tiller handle for my motor or swap my motor for a tiller one I will be taking the console out and rewiring everything in the console to the back of the boat.
