Are you close to Calgary? If wax is not enough to prevent the sections from coming apart, take the rod back to TFO and get a replacement section that fits better. TFO has one of the best warranties in the business.
A loose ferrule usually clicks and may even start coming apart if you wiggle the rod vigorously, just something to check before buying any rod.
