I have a couple of 29" now, have a downhill 26" and an old one in the shed.
I like the 29" for rough lumpy ground, I find it easier, to ride over tree roots holes, ruts etc, I think, this has to do with the slightly changed, entrance/exit angle from the larger tire,
fat bike next.
