25-06 and 115 gr Berger elk penetration
Just finished my last elk roast and lo and behold I damn near chipped a tooth on a bullet fragment. This elk was shot thru the forehead at around 30 yards with a 25-06 115 gr Berger vld. I'm gonna guess that the bullet fragment traveled 4' or more of meat to become lodged in the back strap. Not bad penetration I figured considering the fragment is about 1/4" square by a 1/16" deep.
