I actually do have training in linguistics (That's not what we're doing here btw) and psychology (again not whats being done here).
It's common for people to use passive aggression when they are stating their opinion and still worried about being a nice guy. It's called riding the fence. Recognizing it is as easy as reading books and seeing examples. No degrees or doctorates need apply.
It's also very common for rural locals that have animals they see regularly on their property to call those animals "theirs". These people also commonly take ownership in these animals wellbeing and learn from them.
I saw what you wrote, recognized what it was, and stated my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
