I was wondering that as well. One of my sons shot his first big game animal (cow elk) with his grandfather's sporterized .303. Both my sons really value that gun, even though they have much more modern rifles as well.
Now of course if it was already in very bad or inoperable shape and you didn't want to bother restoring it, I can understand that.
